located near the village of Ingenio. Very close to the airport 15minutes away. Hired car from Auto Reisen at the airport. Note car is picked up from car park located below the main car park and needs to be dropped off there as well. Entry for drop off is NOT through the public car park!!. Anyway farmhouse is very good clean and with good beds.
The hosts Snr Jesus and his wife speak good English. I have to make more of an effort to speak Spanish
Senor Jesus very helpful and sent his son Juan to the airport to guide us to the finca. Note that if you arrive at night time make sure you follow your GPS exactly. as roads are not lit and likely to miss the very narrow turns. Juan also guided us to the local super mercado and offered to take us to see the sunset. Sadly we always got back too late to the farmhouse to take him up on his offer
It is a working organic farm and both Senor Jesus and his wife Juana were around daily but not in an intrusive way. Brought us fresh mangoes, guavas, avocados, oranges, clementines and lemons daily as well as fresh herbs. Also left jar of his local honey and some jars of Guava jam in the fridge. Gave a jar to take home as well.
On one of the days Jesus guided us to the caves where the Guancha used to live. Showed us good photo points and treated us to coffee and a plate of ham for us. Absolutely refused to allow me to pay for it.
Also showed us around the village of Ingenio which is very charming and very traditional. Try and spend some time there as it has a nice church and village square. Also a small Italian restaurant. Ask Snr Jesus about him and his friend Paco at the coffee bar. They used to be competitive greco roman wrestlers.!! Very steep and narrow roads. Best to park near the square and walk around. Also treated us to a very good vegeterian lunch at the farmhouse.
The finca is gated so if you have children then it is very safe. Good swimming pool and also a full size table tennis table.the weather in England and also Spian had turned unuaslly cold for the time of the year and he weather was a bit cold so didn't use the pool although Snr Jesus said they normally heat the pool using solar panels March onward. When we mentioned that the rooms were cold Snr Jesus installed new heaters the next day!! Nothing was too much trouble
Outside seating area near a brick oven(use the dry olive wood) and a grill. Buy some fresh fish and meat and yo are away
Kitchen has everything you need and also had coffee, sugar and condiments left by previous holiday makers. Shampoo and shower gel also there in the bath rooms. Note that like all fincas the electricity supply is rated at 3kw. So you can't have all appliances on at the same time as the main fuse will trip. Will make you think about whether you need the hair dryer!!
Very cute terrier called mercedes and also his friend the cat Mellisa in the yard
Very nice uncrowded beach at Arinaga with good restaurants along the beach. Some parts are marked for nudists.
If you go to Tejeda don't park in the first car park which is at the top. Expensive restaurants and cafes. Go down to the village proper and that has very good cafes and restaurants and almond pastry shops
Definitely returning in the near future
The best thing about this holiday rental was its closeness to the airport, lovely and friendly owners. It was an amazing experience to walk unto the farm and pick fresh fruit every morning. In the evening the tranquility and peace of sitting outside the house near an open fire.
The walks into the country side was fantastic and the village of Ingenio is out of this world. The narrow cobbled lanes and the steep climb up to the village and its side streets would test even the best driver.
The owners were very helpful and made lunch for all of us one day. They also took our party to the nearby sights.
The location of the property is very convenient to all major tourist sights. If interested in enjoying a quite, peaceful and interesting holiday away from the normal tourist traffic this is the place to head for.
We will definitely be going back.
Fantastic place and people worth every penny.
