This restaurant is promoted as authentic Italian but the food is as close to Italian as Huddersfield is to Las Vagas!

No offence to Huddersfield but they served us up four soggy dreadful tasting pizzas. If we had more that a mouthful each we would be lucky. The only thing that was decent was the staff who were very pleasant and should be preparing their cv's.

We were visiting with some friends and the fancied having a Pizza, the first two that came out were very soggy, and appeared uncooked. The staff removed them and brought two more they were slightly better cooked but overall a disappointing experience

We visited D'Antonio with some Dutch friends who are frequent diners there and recommended it, and we were not disappointed. We opted for the 9.90 euro MDD lunch on Friday and arrived around 2pm to find the place so busy that we had to sit inside, which was a little warm but didn't detract from our experience at all.

Before we ordered we were presented with a basket of hot garlic bread and some really delicious citrus marinaded olives, we were all famished so we got stuck in. On our friends recommendation my husband tried the goulash soup as a starter, I chose mozarella and tomato salad, both were very tasty, the soup being homemade, hot and plentiful, my husband loved it.

Then we all chose the mixed grill for our main course, we could have had chicken, a house speciality, sole, or lasagna. We got a piece of tender steak, a typical Spanish pork chop (thin) and a really tasty piece of chicken fillet with a barbecue flavour, this was served with a mixture of fresh veg and chips.

Dessert was just as tasty, on our table we had a banana split, flan with ice cream, ice cream with some fruit syrup and a piece of cheesecake. All the plates were cleared and everyone agreed it was a great meal. To complete our meal we had a bottle of house white, 2 large glasses of red wine, 2 no-alcohol beers (for the driver) and a large bottle of water. Total bill less than 45 euros. The service was speedy and attentive, staff were friendly and welcoming, what more could you want?

Definitely one to put on our list, and definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Highly recommended.

A lovely restaurant serving value for money evening and lunchtime set menus. You can also choose from his standard menu card, if you prefer. The Sunday lunch set menu features roast lamb and roast potatoes! Antonio always makes everyone feel very welcome. There is usually live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings-male and female vocalists singing a good mix of popular songs. The restaurant can be found on the main Rojales to Benijofar road, opposite the BP garage.
