“Great Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2013

We hadn´t been for a while and Ronald´s has been so consistently good for so long you wonder if tonight is going to be the one where all the good feedback starts to go to the man´s head and standards slip. Well hold the front page.......if anything the experience just got better. The service is as good as ever and 'mine host' was in great form making my beautiful wife and lady cousin feel as special as they should without ever over stepping the mark. The meal too was, if anything, just that bit better too. The new bread (with salsa and alioli) they now serve is amongst the best anywhere in Europe and the soup never fails to impress. The choice of starter and main is extensive....the ham on the bone I had was world class.....and the ladies were equally happy with their mains too. The inclusive cava and wine just kept coming and the liqueur and coffee at the back end was simply a question of what would you like and, with the latter, just say when! The biggest surprise tonight, in a period of rampant inflation is that Ronald´s can keep improving the offering whilst miraculously maintaining the price at a fully inclusive 20e. The man´s a magician!

“Never Again”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

I can understand why Ronald's is very popular ... In many ways its very good.

So Im very sorry to rain on the parade so to speak but Le Patron is the problem .... He can be very funny, very charming, incredibly sarcastic aka very good company ... A wonderful host ... BUT ... He is unbelievably moody and unfortunately drinks too much.

My penultimate visit resulted in him being far far too 'fresh' and getting very upset when my wife, daughter and I elected not to accompany him and his cronies in skinny dipping after hrs ..... my daughter of 16 was put under great pressure to go along with his plan and it was all terribly embarrassing .... maybe these things are more normal for those who emanate from the Netherlands like Ronald et al.

My final visit a week or two later resulted in us being positioned in a corner and ignored for 45 mins .... followed by typically sarcastic apologies, slow service and an underlying message of we don't want you here again.

As I'm an okay guynI gritted my teeth ate my food paid the bill and departed - although I have never been so insulted in my life.

Go and enjoy by all means but if your wife or daughter are attractive, Ronaldo is 3 sheets to the wind or both do please watch out.

The excellent El Gusto over at Benjofar ... And/or the Grand Italian at the east edge of Dona Pepe (albeit v.quirky) are hugely better choices.

“Great host”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2013

This restaurant has a quirky jovial host who always makes it an evening to remember. The food is European, well presented, and there are options to suit all tastes. You can eat inside and out. There is no menu to read and no prices, but the cost is always €20 a head seemingly irrespective of what you eat or drink! Definitely good value. Ronald himself will explain the dishes available on the night and serve you personally at your table. Cash only. Advance booking recommended.
