You have to admire the workmanship - every object is perfectly made, with those little touches that make it special.

We travelled up from Mar Menor to visit this museum and the gaudi inspired church just outside of the village. The 'museum' is excellent - a town house decorated and furnished in Spanish art nouveau style. The thing that sets it apart is the warmth, accessibility and approachability of the interiors. Whilst the Gaudi houses in Barcelona command admiration for the designer's vision and skill, they can be a bit austere and you wouldn't necessarily want to live in them. This, however, is different, we could happily pictures ourselves, in the early years of the 20th century, surrounded by this beautiful furniture and decor. Plus, admission is free!!

The church, outside of the village is also worth a look and is clearly inspired by Gaudi's Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

Novelda is a little out of the way but well worth a detour on the basis of the museum alone. The church is a bonus.

The museum has many ornate rooms with interesting collections, paintings and a toy and poster collection, the stained glass and ceiling murals are amazing as is the circular staircase and inner courtyard. The tourist office which is nearby, is also very ornate as is the casino. Outside Novelda is a Gaudi style church with an interesting organ and the remains of a very old castle. Also had a lovely menu of the day in the village which is extremely clean.

Right, before you come here, take a look in the tourist office which is nearby, this building is also very ornate with nice rooms, I have also attached some photos of it along with others of the museum. The museum itself has many ornate rooms with interesting collections, paintings and a toy and poster collection, the stained glass and ceiling murals are wonderful as is the circular staircase and inner courtyard, these two places are a must if you are anywhere near the town of Novelda and before you go on to the Gaudi style church just outside town. Great visit.

This is a town house from the beginning of the 20th century decorated in the art nouveau style. And what style. Marvelous. No words of mine will do it justice, so go see for yourselves.
