This is a superbly located hotel slap bang in the middle. Of Alicante.

The rooms overlooking the square and the castle are superb, however, the square can be noisy at night. Forgo the view if you want a quiet night sleep!

Just returned from an overnight stay at the hotel and we were impressed by the standard. The hotel is ideally situated for the marina, the castle and exploring the old part of the city (highly recommended). Having had many previous experiences of the hugely differing standards of Spain´s hotel ratings, this one was a delight. From the friendly and very helpful receptionist, Monica, to the room and the views our stay couldn´t have been better. We are left wishing that we had booked for longer, but it was a last minute decision to have only a couple of days away. We will definitely be returning here and for longer next time.

Room Tip: Try for a room overlooking the plaza.

Just returned from a few days staying there and it was great. Fantastic location 20 mins on the C6 bus from the airport , next to the sea, castle, shops and restaurants in the Old Town. Buffet breakfast plentiful and hot, rooms large and have great views over the square. Comfy beds, pillows but noisy doors banging in the hotel. Overall very good and worth a visit if in Alicante for a few days.

Location, location. This place is on the perfect spot on plaza de Ayuntamiento in the old city with beautiful views on the castillo of Alicante. Also very near (100 metres) from the beach of Playa de Postiguet and the yachtharbour. Take a room at the squareside of the hotel for the views. The clock at the square won't be working at night so don't worry about that noise. There is some noise from the other rooms via the airfilters in the bathroom, you can actually hear the conversations etc. Nevertheless, pleasant stay.

Just arrived back from spending a week at this hotel and found it very nice. its an ideal hotel as its right near there and the beach is 2 minutes away, the staff were very helpful and rooms were cleaned everyday to a good standard. The roof top terrace had a fantastic view of the castle and at night it looked beautiful. would recommend this place and would go back.

My wife and I stayed here for one night (a Thursday). We found a great deal online at the last minute of £36.43 (approx 43 euros) for a double room. Room was clean and modern with fridge. Staff very friendly, location fantastic - easy walking to beach and the barrio where there's a fantastic selection of bars and restaurants.

Only negative I'd give to this hotel is that they do not seem to publicise your parking options anywhere, so you are unsure how much cost this will add to your stay! I phoned in advance and was told they sent you to a nearby car park with rate of 9.50€ per day. When we checked in, the receptionist marked directions to car park on a map (Parking at Plaza del Puerto, Muelle de Levante, Manzana - on the pier in front of Hotel Melia) but after we got there we found that car park was much more expensive and would have cost us 24€ at standard rate. We complained to receptionist when we got back to the hotel and she said they gave us a special discounted rate of 16.50€. In fairness it is only 5mins walk and very big modern car park, but that was still more than we wanted to pay, so she suggested the undergound car park San Cristobel at Calle Zaragoza (further up the Rambla Mendez Nunez) which is about 2 mins driving and 10 mins walking. We parked there and paid only 11.50€ for 24 hours car parking.

The barrio area is wonderful at night and we enjoyed a wonderful meal at Sal y Pepe Italian restaurant on C/ Munoz in the barrio.

We paid extra for a view of the Town Hall, square and Castle and enjoyed 3 nights stay from Tuesday to Friday with no noise inside or outside hotel. Room was comfortable and air conditioning worked well and coped with the unusually hot nights (32 Centigrade from 1st to 4th October). We didn't eat at the hotel but had breakfast on the long promenade just two minutes round the corner with lots of cafes/choices available. Breakfast on the square outside the hotel was also very handy and a lot cheaper than the hotel. The Hotel did have a promotion offering breakfast at 8.50 Euros but we were not tempted preferring to eat outdoors with the good weather. Do visit the Town Hall which is open until 2pm and has rooms just like a palace and its free to enter...
The number C6 Bus costs 2.90 Euros from the Airport and stops at the Puerto de Mar 2 mins walk across the pedestrian controlled zebra crossing. The bus runs every 20 mins in a circular route and is very reliable. The rooms were clean and regularly serviced and the reception spoke good English. There is a terrace on the top floor with a few sunbeds and table and chairs which give a fabulous view of the castle and and a small gym and sauna is adjacent to the terrace. There is no tea making in the rooms but we bought some orange juice and beer from the local supermarket and found space in the fridge under the TV. Discovered on the last night that you could get a few UK channels by pressing a button marked AV on the remote control but Alicante is such a lively and interesting city there was no time to watch TV. Lots of places to eat nearby in the evening either on the front or along the Calle mayor that runs two blocks up parallel to the front promenade.

Room Tip: Only worth staying with a room with view of castle. A high floor is best Rooms on the 6th floor h...
