“Loved it - going back next year!”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

My sister and I stayed here for 3 nights in September, and loved it! Our room was tranquil, with a private dressing room/bathroom area, and plenty of space for everything. The location is absolutely perfect - right in the old town of Alicante, and a 3 minute walk from the beach and harbour - so it's close to all the action. The real secret about this hotel though is the staff - they went out of their way to ensure our stay was memorable - and have such a 'can do' upbeat attitude. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The only improvement we could suggest would be to invest in better sun beds at the pool (with cushions), and the pool area itself could do with a bit of a facelift. We are so impressed with this hotel, we have already decided to go back there twice next year!

This is how to have a great experience in a foreign country. Difficult to express how great Hospes Amerigo truly is without going overboard....... Just book and take your first visit. The staff are wonderful, the room swish and comfortable, service excellent, breakfast yummy. 3 minute walk to the beach, far too many restaurants to list, slap bang in the centre & no need for taxis everything walkable. Go and enjoy a fabulous city break in the sun. Less than €20 taxi fare from the airport too.

We stayed here for 3 nights in September. There were 3 of us (ladies in our twenties) We shared a Superior Room and stayed B&B. The room was fine, except no tea and coffee making facilities, however the staff were happy to assist when I asked for hot water and milk to make a cup of tea. The room was just about adequate in size for the 3 of us to stay in, however not the most ideal for 3 people, with one random bed at the foot of the other 2. It would certainly be perfect for a couple. The bathroom was very open with not much privacy, again fine if you are a couple, but may be uncomfortable if you are a shy person!

We had a room which looked out onto one of the side streets where there were lots of restaurants. I have seen lots of people complain in their reviews about noise, but this really didn't bother us, the windows were substantial enough to prevent most of it. We did have some difficulties with the shower, it leaked out onto the floor and we had issues with the temperature being too cold and not hot enough.

The overall decor and design of the hotel is lovely, clean and quite elegant in most areas. The location of the hotel is perfect, a short stroll to the beach and restaurants in every direction you walked

The breakfast was excellent and served until 11am which was perfect, a wonderful buffet selection of cold meats, toast, cereals, cheese, fruit, smoked salmon, pastries as well as bacon and scrambled eggs. The fresh orange juice was also delicious. There was also eggs anyway you wanted with various trimming available to order.

The hotel is 5 star (I don't know much about the star rating system) but I would agree with other reviewers that it may well be more suited to be a 4 star. The roof terrace with pool is in desperate need of some maintenance with sun loungers torn and tired as well as the decking around the pool area. However it was a nice place to relax, towels provided, and lovely views, with a bar handy serving a variety of drinks.

Although there were a few things to pick at with this hotel we did really enjoy our stay and this was mostly down to the friendly and professional staff who were at hand. There were a number of times that we called to reception for additional towels, ironing board etc and within minutes they were at the door. All the staff were friendly, keen and always had a smile and willingness to answer our questions or cater to our needs, which seemed to be difficult to find anywhere else we went in Alicante!

Have just come back from 4 days at Hospes Amerigo and am just looking to book to go back.
Thoroughly enjoyed the trip, The location of the hotel is perfect, just 200 metres from the main promonade and 500 metres from the beach.
The staff are attentive and very helpful, nothing is too much trouble.
The hotel is very clean, light, well decorated.
The only 'negatve' comments I would say about the hotel is the lack of chairs on the poolside and the condition of the sunloungers, could do with a quick overhaul as the pool area lets the high standards of the rest of the hotel down.
I would highly recommend this hotel. Just catch the C6 bus from the airport 2.90 euros and it is only 15-20 mins till it drops you 200-300 metres away from hotel. You can be on beach within an hour of landing. :)

I stayed at the Hospes Amerigo in Alicante for 2 nights in August. We were in one of the apartments which is a 2 minute walk down the round from the main hotel. The apartment was very clean and spacious. It has a kitchen complete with a washing machine, a separate bedroom, bathroom and living/eating area. The apartment also has a private balcony that overlooks an alleyway with restaurants below. If you keep the door open it is quite noisy however once closed it blocks the sound out. At night though there are musicians that play in front of the restaurants and it’s quite nice to listen to live Spanish music on your balcony with a glass of wine! The hotel and apartment are a 5 minute walk to the beach and the pier, location is definitely perfect! I would recommend the Hospes Amerigo to anyone visiting Alicante.

The polite and helpful staff assisted in our enjoyment of our week's holiday giving us tips on where to go for beaches, paella etc. Breakfasts were a culinary delight with choices for all cultures. We had the Dreamer room which gives you plenty of space when staying for a week to move around and comprises bedroom, lobby area with basins and wardrobes, leading on to the bath/shower room/toilet. We were on the first floor and with earplugs slept really well apart from the odd lively person in the street walking home in the early hours. Beds extremely comfortable. Very central to all going on in Alicante and such a lively place in the evening where you can people watch from most restaurants/bars if sitting outside. Only negative of the hotel was the pool area - too shallow, small and a little care-worn, however it didn't spoil the holiday as we hadn't intended to spend hours sunbathing on the roof as we wanted to explore. All in all an excellent experience in a lovely city. Would definitely go back and will use Hospes again when visiting other countries.

Room Tip: Dreamer Room - lots of space.

Having never been to Alicante before we did not know what to expect of the City or the hotel, we were not disappointed by either, Alicante is a great place and Hospes Amerigo a great place to stay. The rooms are lovely in a Spanish business sense rather than a tourist hotel sense, the location is brilliant for the Marina, the beach, restaurants and local sights. Breakfast is excellent if at times a little chaotic, the staff are brilliant and always helpful and smiling. Do not expect much of the pool or roof terrace it is very small and the pool is more of a large jacuzzi than a swimming pool, the beach is only four or five minutes walk and is great. ,

Room Tip: There are only about three rooms with a marina view so you will be lucky to get one of these, all th...
