“Really lovely hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

We stayed here for Friday and Sat night, the room was lovely but noisy from the bar over the street was noisy. The next day I explained this to the manager. he immediately changed the room.
perfect, Alicanti is lovely.

Room Tip: ask for a quieter room.

After reviewing Trip Advisor for somewhere to stay in Alicante I was pleased and happy with the Abba Centrum hotel. Staff we're friendly, hotel was spot less, rooms were large for a city centre hotel. The gem was the breakfast, a fabulous, varied and fresh choice and worth experiencing. I'd certainly recommend the Abba for business or leisure.

Clean and rooms that were very ok. Friendly staff. Walls are thin like paper - you heard it loud whenever anyone walked by the room, and our neighboor's snooring kept us awake. By saying not so central I mean that it was in the furthest area of the business district and a good walk from the bars/restaurant/beach.

Abba Alicante has a nice and quiet location. Some of the reasons why I chose the hotel were that it was opposite to a supermarket and close to the airport bus stop, and had free wifi. The hotel is also very close to the main shopping street and El Corte Ingles department store. The location is central, yet the side street is very quiet and does not have much traffic. The bus stops are close by and it is easy to get to the beach promenade, the old town is within walking distance, as is the Santa Barbara fortress. The atmosphere and interior of the hotel is somehow similar to Scandic hotels, with simple décor and similar breakfast, with local and organic options. The rate was very reasonable and breakfast was good. There is a steam room on the top floor. When it’s sunny, it is nice to take your laptop to the rooftop and enjoy working (or relaxing) under the Alicante sun. The only real minus was the very slow internet in the room. It is possible to upgrade the service with a fee. I ate lunch at the hotel restaurant one time and the food and service were good, too.

Room Tip: courtyard-side room is quiet

So sad that I have to write such a negative review. I chose this hotel on the strengths of all the positive reviews but our experience differs.

I can agree with many of the excellent reviews with one big exception. I had booked an executive room and so we checked in to a room on the second floor. What we didn't know was that our room was above a suite of Meeting Rooms. From midnight to 2.30am these rooms are cleaned and adjustments made to the patricular meeting for the next day.

If you happen to be in a room above the meeting rooms you will hear a variety of loud noises caused by the wooden flooring. We heard bumping, scraping. knocking and rolling of wheels. Good to know that if you book the meeting rooms they will be in order but horrendous if you are expecting to sleep in a room above the activity. Yes this went on for a good two hours and if you have an early flight or even want a good nights sleep - forget it!!

Reception were contacted during the night to no avail and our protest in the morning at checkout produced psudo sympathetic looks but nothing else.

I e mailed the hotel several times since getting home protesting about our experience and eventually was offered a weekend in a Junior Suite or a special rate at one of the abba chain hotels.

Not good enough so my only recourse is to sadly give a terrible report which I think is my first on tripadvisor.

So if you intend staying at the abba alicante make sure that that the second floor is off limits to you.

One positive is that the barman is delightful and very hardworking!

Room Tip: Definately not on the second floor

A strange place, clean enough and comfortable enough but some intangible thing missing. Positives first: has its own underground carpark. The room was large and airy, bed comfortable with ac and a decent bathroom. Reasonably placed to walk to the city centre, 15 mins or so. Negatives: only water in the room bar. On a very noisy unattractive street. Breakfast was seriously bad, unreplenished and dried up. It was ok but wouldn't stay there again.

Abba location is geat. Its near shopping streets, tram station and short distance to beach road. Plastic under sheet makes bed really unpleasent and bed is also really hard. We live in the first floor and street noiseswas pretty bad so make sure to het a room from higher floors. Very clean and spacious rooms.
