Inventive, interesting and warm service throughout. An absolute must for those who have yet to visit this excellent restaurant.

Very impressed by the high standard of food at Don Carlos. The duck and apple croquettes are a masterpiece.

“Contemporary tapas served with Michelin star finesse at great value”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

My girlfriend and I went here on the recommendation of trip advisor and our apartment owner. It is startling that there were not more people here (i guess because it is marginally out of the main tourist area) but it is well worth the 2 minute walk. We were not disappointed. We were greeted by the head chef who we learned spent time in london working at claridges and the dorchester before working in paris. We chose the tapas selection menu including 2 glasses of wine, desert and coffee, which, at €28 each was excellent. We had 5 dishes of amazing tapas presented impeccably. The first, tomato and goats cheese terrine, won an award for best tapas dish in alicante and you could see and taste why. The second, another terrine with fois grais and berry jelly was amazing also. These two dishes alone made the dinner. We then had sea bream tartare which was again amazing and had tiny red pepper ice cubes which busrt with flavour and complimented the tartare amazingly. The owner bought us a glass of white to accompany this which was excellent. We also had Spanish omelette with truffle oil and prawns with broccoli quiche. The desert was also incredible with a selection of 3 deserts including melt in the middle chocolate soufflé and nougat ice cream. This was an amazing meal and this place should not be missed.

“Tapas and fine dining”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

By coincindence we found this place when we were looking for a different restaurant that we couldn't find. Not many people seem find their way to this place but it's not far from the main restaurant area's. The tapas we tried were superb, good flavor and fresh, much better then the usual in Alicante. If you go try the sea bream tartare which was my favourite. The owners are very kind people and the chef has a lot of cooking experience in many gastronomic restaurants abroad. Besides the tapas and wine there is a place in the back of the restaurant which is reservation only where the chef cooks a 4 or 6 course meal with wine pairing for a very fair price. After we had the tapas we made a reservation for 6 courses. Its nice to see some french and spanish cuisine mixed together. The wine pairing seemed a bit odd but suited the dishes very well. If you are willing to pay some more for your meal you should definitely visit Celeste restaurant (this is how the fine dining area is called).
The only bad thing about this place I could say is that it's a little bit empty but hopefully that will change in time when more people will find their way to this restaurant.
Well worth the visit; 5 stars!

Dear Customer

We thank you for your valuable comment.

We are extremely happy your experience both in Don Carlos & Celeste was positive. We buy our products in the local market close by and elaborate the dishes in Celeste according to the season and local products. There is no menu nor wine list for that very reason.

Hopefully next time you visit us, you will try new creations in both sections of the restaurant.

Kindest Regards
Jorge Jurado

“Really worth trying!”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

I had an amazing time here with my friends. The staff is young, and friendly. The service is good, and the food was really, tasty, visual and different. I tried the sweet tomato and goat's cheese tapa, which apparently won best tap last year in the Cinema Festival! I also tried the typical Spanish tortilla with truffle! What a delightful and tasty dish!Highly recommended!
