“Suites del Mar excellent stay”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

This hotel is a 15 minute trip from the airport and is modern, very clean, comfortable and well located for the beach, town, restaurants - everything you could want. We took breakfast for two days and enjoyed the variety and freshness of the items. Staff were friendly and all spoke good English. We had a harbour facing room on the third floor and didn't hear any noise (stayed first weekend of November). Room was enormous and clean and very modern and nicely decorated. Comes highly recommended!

Room Tip: Booking breakfast at the front desk is cheaper than going to the restaurant in the morning.

We stayed here as recommended by friends with whom we met up for a short autumn sunshine break.
Rooms are good-sized, with large bathroom and walk-in shower, and kept spotlessly clean by hard-working maids - unsung heroines, who always deserve a tip when you leave in my opinion!!

One thing not mentioned by other reviewers is the air-conditioning in the bedrooms, which is the BEST I have ever come across in nearly 40 years of travel!! We thought at first it wasn't running properly, as we couldn't seem to hear it or feel the effects of it working - but that is the beauty of the system; it is low-level, but efficient, and so quiet that we could run it all night to keep the room cool without the noise disturbing our sleep, or getting an icy blast down your back and waking up with a stiff neck (which has happened many times before....).

Hotel is in a great location - handy for airport and tour buses, the old town, the harbour with its great choice of restaurants, and all the main sights, so everything is more or less within walking distance.

Tea and coffee-making equipment is available if you ask - but at 10 Euros per day, forget it!!

Did not use any other facilities (breakfast buffet, resto., pool etc. ) so cannot comment.

Would certainly consider booking again if we return to Alicante.

Room Tip: If you want evening sun and large balcony, choose harbour side; if you want sea view and less noise...

Short break to Alicante, great hotel, and a great location.

Within 5 minutes you can be on the beach and also the sheltered ramblas style promenade.
Our room was good, very clean and nicely decorated, with good facilities (minibar, tea and coffee(although sadly plastic cups!)TV (with just BBC world english speaking)
The bathrooms were modern and had a good shower.
The balcony for us was a bit dissapointing,as fairly small, but had a good sea view.
I used the "pillow service" which allowed you to change your choice of pillow (soft, firm hard etc) and was promptly and without fuss had it changed over.
Breakfast was(as in other reviews) great. Plenty of choice and styles to please all nationalities.
Fresh orange juice machine and the latest in coffee machines.

We also made use of the "outdoor circuit" part of the spa...swimming pool, jacuzzi etc etc.
Very good, clean and a great part of the holiday. I did agree with some of the comments already noted on the slight tiredness of this area and although something that would give the hotel a four star rating, perhaps not what I would consider fourstar facility (however I didnt experience the other spa treatments available)

Overall I would recommend this hotel and its facilities plus great location

Alicante is a great place to go to. It is not Benidorm that is so often linked to this area (and is an hour away),but a great Spanish town, with real people and lots of things to see and do.
The beach is lovely and well looked after. The town is interesting and some great bars and restaurants especially in the old town. It also catered to our child, with its parks, fun fairs and playgrounds. The Castle is very interesting and easily acccessable by lift or up/down through the "Parque de la Ereta". Overall a good way to experience Spain!

We last stayed at this hotel in April 2013, and enjoyed it so much that we went again last week. On our first visit we stayed in a Premium room with a sea-view and were given a 10% discount after filling a satisfaction survey. We used this discount to "pay" the extra for a junior suite on our recent visit, and we were not disappointed. The room was almost twice as big and we had a fantastic view of the bay; we were also able to use the Spa sun deck and swimming pool.

We could not fault the hotel, apart from the sun deck/swimming pool area which probably needs a bit of money spending on it. The area is also on the small side and although the pool is not very big there is probably not enough room to extend it.

We cannot understand the references in other reviews to staff being rude. The reception staff who checked us in on both visits were both friendly and helpful, and the maids were charming. The Spa attendant was a delight and went to great lengths to find my sun cap which I had managed to leave there the previous day.

We did not have breakfast at the hotel as we always think it more fun (and cheaper!) to go out. We discovered O'Hara's - an Irish pub - only a few minutes away where we had a fantastic breakfast including coffee for just over 2 euros a head.

If you can splash out a little we would recommend that you go for a junior suite so that you can take full advantage of the wonderful view of the beach and bay.

We stayed four nights, and the room was fantastic. Just what you need with two kids - plenty of space. Bedroom and living room, bathroom and separate shower next to one of the two balconies. Yes, we had a sea view, but my mum who was also staying at the same time got a view of the harbour (including the casino, get over it guys it is a casino). She loved the room as it was even bigger than ours and you get the afternoon sun and sunset on that side plus a view of the harbour and town.
Make sure you get breakfast. Not too pricey when we booked, and a great selection of food.
Lovely pool area (bit cold) and just next to the beach.
Great place. I would come back here if we come to Alicante again

Room Tip: Get the breakfast. And the suites are great not sure what the hotel is like but we found this great

this was our first time to this hotel . The location was spot on & we had the largest double bed ever...however the reception staff were cold & slightly rude.
The only thing that I would have liked was a kettle for my morning cuppa , instead we could have ordered room service or gone down stairs but do like to potter around the room to come too with a first cup of the day.
also a bit of a cheek to charge 20 euros a day to visit the spa , especially as we would just have used the pool but when we saw how small it was & not very clen .. we went to the beach instead ...Hola , result

Room Tip: not worth paying for a sea view & definately not worth paying for the spa.

Alicante is a great place to visit but stay in the hotel next door. No pool unless you pay extra and it's a waste of time so do not pay for it. Zero facilities, rude staff and nightclub across the road that opens until 7:00 am at the weekend and you hear every musical note. You will not get a bay view so give up trying. Sorry do not waste your money. Alison below is correct.
