we stayed in a suite, i think second floor with views to the sea. And what views!! had two balconies. A lounge area. The shower was in between one of the terraces and the bedroom, and I can't say enough... the views either from the balcony, or the bedroom, or the shower even, which was all glass floor to ceiling and had electric shades. Definitely will recommend this hotel, the Porta Maris suites. the toilet and bathtub were at the other side of the bed, very clever ! The hotel's service was ok.

Really good hotel in a great location on Alicante seafront. Outside is the harbour and a pirate ship which is some kind of restaurant. There is a nice bar looking out across the harbour and nearby is the promenade (the Explanada de Espana) with a nice selection of bars and restaurants. The hotel is very convenient for all of this. The rooms were good, of a good size and the shower (no bath) was excellent. Because of the positioning of the hotel you get either a sea-view or a view over the harbour. The harbour also is home to a casino, a karaoke bar and other places of entertainment. On a Saturday night this was a bit noisy but it was ok on a Sunday and the beginning of the week. Breakfast was of a good quality with a nice range of choices (salmon even) and the staff were helpful and attentive.

Room Tip: If you need to get a bus back to Alicante airport when you leave and you feel you need a taxi to get to the nearby Estacion du autobuses (a twenty or twenty-five minute walk); don't bother. We got reception to order a taxi and that was fine but when the bus starts its journey it comes back towards the hotel and there is a bus stop at the edge of the harbour (100 metres from Hotel entrance). A waste of time and effort (and money).

we stayed here, after checking out several other hotels in the area, as this had all one could expect from a good hotel. The rooms are lovely, very clean and comfortable, and the views are stunning, along the beach and sun rise is special. the restaurant was vert quiet, as we stayed here in March, but the service and food was reasonable, no problems with the local language, even the bar staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely hotel to stay and roam around the old town, pick up several bars with plenty of good tapa's. and lots of great shops. the beach is perfect for lazing in the sun or just strolling around. the only small let down for me(not my partner) was the small swimming pool, hardly big enough to do one stroke, and the spa was rather boring and outdated, i think this needs an upgrade. but overall, we had a very lovely stay here.

My husand and I stayed in this hotel in October for 1 week. I did alot of research before booking and it was also recommended to us by someonw who stayed here before, so we decided to book it. There are really only two hotels on the beach front, the other is the Melia. It was our 10th Wedding anniversary so on arrival the hotel upgraded us to a premium room, which meant the room was larger than the standard rooms, the bathroom was great, really big with double sinks and a great shower. We were sea facing, however as a previous reviewer said there was absolutely no sunlight on the balcony at any time during the day but the view was very nice! The hotel is in a great location just minutes from everything, the beach is literally 2 minutes walk away. We are big into our food and wine and found Alicante great for both! We found some great tapas bars/restaurant, unfortunately I can't remember the names of them now, but you really need to do a bit of research and do a good walk around Alicante when you first arrive to get your bearings. On the night of our anniversay we ate in a restaurant called El Portal, it was fab but quite expensive.
Back to the hotel! Yes it is vey misleading about the Spa and what is/not included, my husband used the gym and pool area a couple of times and found it be very poor indeed, you can only access the area once per day! You need to come to Ireland and experience our hotels, everything is inluded and almost every hotel has a leisure centre which you can use free of charge. The breakfast was fine but to be honest we were kind of sick of it by day 4, not the best selction, contrary to other reviews. We found the reception staff quite friendly and helpful. You can rent beach towels from the hotel at a minimum charge. The Marina is at the other side of the hotel, some of the restaurants here are very expensive, we ate in one and it was way over priced for what we got! Stick to the old town, you can't go wrong! I would return to this hotel, especially for the location and we will definitely return to Alicante, we loved it!

we were there for a week in October, and did a lot of research on hotels beforehand. Being primarily a Spanish town/city and not a beach resort, there are really only 2 seaview hotels ( being this one and the Melia). We chose this one as the facilities looked the same and it was a bit cheaper. we were also very aware of the small print in the various reviews, in that within the one facility there are two sets of accomodation ( the Spa porta maris, and the Suites del Mar ). From reviewing the accomodation it looked like there was an indoor pool in the SPM, and an outdoor pool in the suites del mar, which you had to pay extra to use. so far so clear. therefore, when we booked a room that provided access to the "outdoor spa circuit", we assumed that we therefore had access to an "outdoor" pool. When we arrived we found out that this was not the case. The outdoor pool is completely separate from SPM , and only for Suites del Mar . The "outdoor" circuit only allows you access to an indoor pool ( where you have to where swiming caps, and which was very cloudy and not that clean ). When I questioned this at check-in, the girl on reception became very defensive/aggresive. I think she has heard these complaints many times before. On top of that, you are limited to one visit per day to the "outdoor/indoor" pool. Not the best start to our holiday, with the marketing department either having a poor understanding of english or being deliberately misleading. the room itself was absolutely fine, being standard business hotel quality. We had a starndard seaview room which while having a seaview, got absolutely no sun at any time of the day. This is due to the fact that the hotel ( and the adjacent Melia), being built in a" W" shape (take a look at the website ), presumably in order to get more rooms in. This means however that 1. any rooms on the parts of the W that slope to the right, get absolutely no sun and 2. that the design of the building acts as a sound magnifier, with small waves c 50 feet below, sounding like they;re crashing onto your balcony. NIce for the first night, but by the end of the week throroughly annoying. Also means that noisy teenagers at 3 in the morning sound like they're standing on your balcony. We also agree with other reviews re complete lack of atmosphere in the "bar" at night ie zero. On plus points, the breakfast is excellent and the breakfast staff and cleaners were very friendly. Its also a great location, right at the marina and 5 mins walk to the old town, and right next to the beach ( i'm not sunbather but am a big swimmer, and it was great being able to swim off the rocks next to the hotle right across the bay. Alicante itself isn't particulary pretty, but its an authentic spanish town with plenty fo bars, restaurants and tapas. its not particularly big, and too be honest a week was too long and a long weekend was fine. if you;ve been to palma then its a smaller version of it . If you haven't been to either, then go to Palma first . Separate review of the Tryp Bellver in Palma on its way! Overall a decent city hotel with a beach location which we would have given 3 stars, if it wasn't for the "outdoor" pool!!

Room Tip: seaview room and check that you'll get sun on the balcony
