We stayed here for a week in July , we had no view from our room but that's ok for us as we are only sleeping and showering in it . I would not recommend this hotel I you want to spend lots of time in your room or for the elderly as it's on a cliff . Trams are excellent and take you into centre of Alicante , and taxi back is 6 euros , lots of lovely restaurants in city centre , we did not eat in the hotel but asked for a fridge in the room which the hotel did . Air conditioning was fab in hotel . The pool is busy so get there early if you want a sun bed
My husband and I chose to stay at this hotel for our honeymoon. We thought this hotel was not expensive and had a terrace and swimming pool and seemed to be a nice hotel. The hotel is the first three floors in a very large apartment building. There wasn't a fridge in the room so every time we wanted something cold to drink we had to go up to the third floor to the vending machine. There are only two restaurants near the hotel so every time we wanted to go somewhere we needed to take a taxi. The hotel is right by a rocky beach but to get somewhere you had to walk up a hillside and then down again and that's kind of difficult when it's 35 degrees Celsius. The swimming pool is not connected to the hotel. The hotel was clean, the rooms were cleaned every day and most of the staff were very polite and helpful. All in all would not stay there again.
We have just returned home after a lovely short break to Alicante as we were in the area for a wedding. We were there as a couple and I would say that this hotel is more suited to adults more than families. The hotel is just to the north of Alicante and can be easily reached from the airport via the C6 bus and then either the tram or another bus which goes past the hotel (about 5/6 euros each per person each way). The hotel has a decent sized swimming pool although the shallow end is still quite deep which would be an issue for young children. Tennis courts and gymnasium are available. The room has air conditioning and safe included in your room price and the continental breakfast was plentiful to set you up for the day. There is a nice beach about 10-15 mins walk away which is worth the journey and we found a couple of nice restaurants down by the waters edge a short walk from the hotel. All the staff members that we encountered were very pleasant and worked very hard and couldn't fault them.
All I all I would recommend this hotel if you want a budget but enjoyable stay in a relaxing environment but if you want a lively holiday then this is not for you.
Absolutely fabulous hotel. After the mixed views seen online prior to arrival I really didn't know what to expect, however it really outlived my expectations. I emailed the hotel prior to arrival requesting a room on the highest floor and I wasn't disappointed. The view from the room was stunning and the room itself was extremely spacious and modern. Every member of staff we encountered over the 7 days were incredibly friendly and always had a smile on their faces. Special mention to Ana and Alberto in the inside bar, always went out of their way to help us, top class service. Absolute credit to the hotel. Although we didn't have breakfast included we did pay for breakfast on one morning. And it was the only thing I found fault with in the hotel. Found the breakfast extremely poor and lacking selection so was disappointed after paying 7.50 each for it. Yes it is about 25 minutes walk from the centre, but you wouldnt see the time going walking along the beautiful coastline. Taxis are also dead cheap if needed. The tram is only a five minute walk and a good sized beach only 10 minute walk. Wonderful hotel!!! Would highly recommend!!!
My wife and I stayed at the Albahia Hotel for a long weekend and found it Ok, and it suited us just fine. We deliberately choose it as it was outside the town of Alicante but easy enough to get to via, bus and trams. Reviews were mixed when we checked Tripadvisor as we all look for different things, but the other review give you a pretty good steer. It will take you about 45-60 mins to get there on Buses or Trams. There is plenty of info on both via the net. But in short the C6 bus(3.70 euros) will take you into the centre of Alicante and then choose either bus 21/22(2 euros) or transfer to the tram (1.45euros). Bus tops 5 mins walk away and the tram is 10 mins away.
Checking into the hotel can be as late as 4pm. I some may think this is late but latest checkout is 12 noon, so swings and roundabouts. Our room was ready about 3pm but made use of the pool until it was ready. The hotel staff were very helpful in storing our luggage in a room in reception.
We had a room at the back of the hotel, I notice some people have complained about this but it fine for us, as again you get what you pay for, and we just needed a room with a bed as it was a good base to explore the local area. We faced out onto the Cliff face at the rear and occasionally saw the tram go by, and you can hear the faint rumblings, but it did not really disturb us. It looks as if there is going to be a new tram stop approx. 75m up the road soon as the platform is already completed but its still fenced off, so this will placate the people who can’t or don’t want to walk to the current stop 10 mins away. The room was very clean and comfortable and they provided good towels and shower gels/shampoos. The air con worked fine and we were happy with the room.
We tried lunch at the restaurant for a late lunch that offered snacks overlooking the tennis courts towards the sea. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we thought the costs were reasonable for a holiday hotel. There are a few bars the coast side of hotel and a small supermarket again 100m up the road if you want to buy your own snacks.
We tried the pool a few mornings that opens about 10am until 3pm and closes for approx. an hour and then opens up again from 4-6pm. There was a bit of a queue and beds went quickly as family groups reserved lots of beds by spreading themselves and their stuff over until the rest of the family turned up later. The Pool has a small shop/shack selling drinks, snacks and ice creams. This is manned by the life guard, who we noticed was really patient and helpful to some of the older and disabled guests by helping them in and out of the pool. Our biggest problem with the pool area was that we were bitten quite badly by midges and didn’t go back there again. But there are some pretty beaches with lots of facilities just the other side of the tram stop, so 10 minutes’ walk away.
As our plane home wasn’t until late afternoon the reception again will allow you to leave you luggage in their store and you can pick it up later. There is no changing room or shower available but the toilets are large enough to have a quick wash and get changed before we caught the tram and bus to the airport.
All in all this hotel was a good base for us to explore the Alicante area, and was not that expensive
