“Avoid This Hotel!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

Stayed for 3 days,I am PC Platinum member, they didn't recognise my status, then didn't get any room upgrade.
reception couldn't speak any other languages apart Spanish, then wrote down on the paper my Amex charge card details, when I ask what for, get quick answer that it's them procedures in Spain, and I am not in UK!...
but overall at the check in time Receptionist (lady ) was one of the best staff in this hotel, probably she would like to help me, but Hotel is understaffed as there just 1 person on duty and no one else!
Hoverer hotel is very old, later I found out that it's around 15 years, rooms is not nice enough for 4 star hotel or even for Holiday Inn.
I get really upset on second day on my stay, when I been injured in hotel swimming pool, I've cut myself, then I went to my room and call reception, to ask for first aider and some dressing and bandage to stop bleeding cut.
Person at reception couldn't understand me what happen, as they don't speak English well or any other language unfortunately, so spent couple of minutes to explain to her
and then was very funny answer, on the phone was Front office Manager, she told that she alone, she can't left reception, and THEY HAVEN'T GOT FIRST AIDER AND FIRST AID BOX!!! she offer me go to nearest pharmacy which is less than 1 mile away!
I come down, to confirm that wasn't joke! she was very unhappy, she said she got 1 pack of dressing and Unpacked sterile bandage, I said that I will use dressing, but I need something sterile to protect bleeding cut, so I offer her to get it.
She said she not able to help...
Unacceptable service, avoid this hotel there is other much better hotels to stay.
Housekeeping was not good enough, towels was dirty, housekeeping didn't hoover room, didn't replace toiletries daily
Would like to say bar- restaurant staff (lady) maybe couldn't speak English, but she really try to do it, even sometimes call receptionist to ask them use google translate,
she was friendly, offer very nice customer service, and always offer to try something new from them menu.
overall : staff don't speak English, but they friendly enough, not helpful because they can't leave reception, as they always alone on the shift.
next time will look for another hotel in this area.

Room Tip: All rooms is very old and really up to standard of 4 star hotel suggest

We booked the Holiday Inn as a top secret hotel on Lastminute.com when looking for a cheap break away for somewhere sunny in late October. For the price, we can't complain at all, and we got the sunshine we were looking for (around 18-20 degrees compared to 6 in London!).
The good things:
Breakfast was plentiful and ran until 10.30am. Standard buffet food, but lots of it
The pool area: big and clean, and almost empty when we were there. Too cold to swim but perfect for catching the sun
The restaurant: we ate in one night and were extremely pleased with the quality of food and the portion sizes given the price
The location: a 10 minute (max) stroll to the beach, where there are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants (even in the off season, most were open), and a 20 minute bus to Alicante town
The staff: very friendly, all spoke excellent English.

A couple of downsides though:
The wifi wasn't working when we arrived, and I think we complained about it around 5 times before it was properly fixed, after which it worked a dream. They really need to get this sorted properly. (top tip: if it's not working, there's an open shopping centre called Fountain Court close by, with excellent free wifi)
The room: although clean and tidy, it smelt of smoke - we couldn't be bothered moving so just kept the windows open when we could. The beds on wheels were weird, we did move around a bit, and one had a wheel missing so if you sat on that corner of the bed, the bed threatened to topple over. The tv was poor too for a hotel of this type, big old style tv with none of the English channels working (news only) - a complaint that was never fixed.

On the whole, well worth it if you get a cheap rate and are looking for sunshine, which is pretty much guaranteed in Alicante. While there, visit GAME bar and Lys de France restaurant. It's hard to find good coffee but Acqua bar and El Eloc on the beachfront do it (although service at El Eloc's really unfriendly - worth it for the caffiene!)

Room Tip: It looks like the curtains don't close, but they do - just look for the third curtain which is a...

Hotel location is really great. It is withing 10 minutes from the beach and about 10-15 minutes from the main cafes and restaurants.
The room we were gicen was in a new part of the hotel, on a high floor. It was comfortable, quite and clean. The only drawback was that the bed had rolling wheels and we were waking up with a gap between our beds.
Each room has safe, where we were leaving our documents and jewellery.
The hotel has got free wifi and the signal was quite strong in our rooms, so it was a great plus.
The pool was good and the area around it was organised well. There are some tables around the pool, where we had our birthday breakfast.

The room was very clean and the beds were quite comfortable but would be better if they weren't on rolling wheels as it did slide around a bit if I moved!
There is a safe in the room which is easy to use however I was shocked to find the people before had left expensive jewellery in there! I handed it in to reception with the room number and really hope this got back to them.

The pool area was quite nice and there is a small cafe for refreshments. Nothing special but decent.
We didn't eat in the restaurant so Cant comment on the food there instead we went to a local restaurant that was quite cheap compared to the restaurants by the beach.

The beach is a five-ten min walk and is really lovely.

The staff were lovely and friendly and even though their English wasn't perfect they were still able to help.

Cab to the airport was approx 30 euros.

Overall had a lovely holiday and would definitely go back to this hotel. The only thing I didn't like was the location as it wasn't very touristy so didn't have many shops and was quite quiet but we wanted a short quiet break very close to the beach so it was perfect.

This hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the beach which later on in the season was quiet with plenty of restaurants to get a Drink at.

Has a good, if a bit shallow, pool which catches the sun for the vast majority of the day. Free wi-fi was a definite plus for this place too.

Would stay here again.

We first arrived to the hotel and we were greeted by welcoming staff, extremely polite and efficient. But we ended up getting a twin room, not ideal for a couple whatsoever! especially after requesting a double.
We enjoyed the swimming pool ( except the sunbed that collapsed ever other minute which drove me insane) other then that very clean. Woman at the pool bar was very nice! Right beside the beach which was great.

THEN, to my dismay,on the third day arrived at the hotel room to find that the door could be just opened from the outside without a key...thankfully nothing was missing! I then went to reception where I was told we could stay in the room for the night until it was fixed in the morning ( i thought she was joking as it was only 6 in the afternoon) but she was not!! Not having any of this I asked to change rooms... I didn't mind too much as I was taking it easy being on holidays and all not stressing and what not.....Until, we arrived at the room, it stank of smoke, and was built for disabled access so there we're assistant bars in the shower, on the toilet and in the room! Very romantic...now thinking of it the bars in the shower could have came in useful for extra curricular stuff ;)

We asked to move immediately and were then moved to a room which was right beside our first room (not impressed as they had tried to flog us off to a disabled assisted room that they obviously were just trying to get rid off). Not assisted what so ever in the moving of bags in the middle of our holiday we had to collect all our stuff and set up shop in the new room allocated to us...finally a double bed!

Can't flaw it all.. as the staff we're extremely nice, well situated( if your looking for the beach) not nightlife, like me and the whole hotel was kept very clean our rooms were cleaned every day!

Room Tip: specify a double if your looking for a double...expect a twin if you don't!!

We stayed here for the last two nights of our holiday prior to our flight home from alicante airport. We had a hire car so this fitted in well as the hotel had large free car park and was only 35 mins drive to the airport.Rooms were large clean and spacious the only downside was there was a slight smell of smoke in the room. Well located 10 mins walk from the lovely beach area,15 mins drive into Alicante which is well worth a visit. Nice pool. Breakfast fine. Evening meal fine. Free wi fi all in all good value for money.
