Just got back from this beautiful hotel in Alicante with the perfect location and fantastic views. The staff were always pleasant and went out of their way to meat your needs. We booked through Opodo and we were shown a room with 3 proper beds, but that was not the case. We told the receptionist and they dealt with it in a satisfactory way. The only thing that ruined it is that one night before midnight we called reception and they never answered, we had to call room service and get the message through them. If it had been a serious emergency, it would have been distressing to say the least.

Room Tip: Both views are lovely, the port and the beach.

This is my first review i have wrote about this hotel, having stayed here on numerous occasions, the most important being my Son and Daughter in laws wedding reception. It was wonderful and Maria Quiles the wedding organisor went the extra mile with all that she did, They could not have done it without her. All of the guests stayed and could not fault the hotel and the services.
Since this we always try to stay at a melia hotel, last week we were at the Melia Galgos Madrid(Wonderful again) and in October we are of to the Melia Guillermo(Cuba), so as you can see we are moe than happy with with the Melia chani of hotels.

We have just returned from the Melia Alicante a lovely time was had by all. We stayed on a half board basis the breakfast was amazing and the evening meals were too.The staff were very courteous and helpful throughout the hotel especially the staff attending us at dinner who were so courteous and polite making sure we had enjoyable meals. We stayed in a three bedded room facing the marina housekeeping staff all ways ensured it was very clean and comfortable. The pool was too cold, and pool area was often shaded and cold but this gave us the opportunity to use the beautiful beach which could be accessed by stairs from the pool area.

Room Tip: If you are having three adults in a room (we had our 24 year old daughter with us) ensure they give...

We stayed here for a week in September. I have to say that the majority of reviews on this hotel were very accurate and also made for very useful info prior to our trip. I shall start off with the positives:

Pros: Breakfast is amazing and caters for every palate you can have everything from chicken curry to chocolate cake and all the other healthy alternatives in between. The housekeeping staff were fantastic our room was immaculate every day. The hotel is right next to the beach and has a useful stair way linking the pool area to the beach. There are lots of nice restaurants and shopping areas to see in Alicante.

Cons: As previously mentioned in earlier reviews SOME of the reception staff need to undergo further training, check in was long, tedious, and the receptionist felt it was more important to chat to her colleagues than prioritise us the CUSTOMERS!! A major error in my books and as they are the first point of contact in the hotel this issue should be addressed. We were so annoyed with the reception staff that even asking for general info was a chore, on our second day we enquired about getting to San Juan beach (worth going to a lot less packed that the beach near the hotel) the receptionist muttered something about a bus on the other side of the hotel, no further details she was just so rude. The pool area is small and gets little sun, so normally quite cold too, we spent most of our time at the beach. Also they have a bar / drinks area beside the pool so if you want to read / sunbathe in peace forget it!! Also if you plan on visiting the casino across the road you need to bring your passport to gain entry, this is not written on any of the hotel guest info booklets very annoying.

Over all this hotel has a lot of potential and with a few tweaks could be a really great hotel. The majority of the staff are very pleasant, take pride in their work and make every effort to be courteous and polite to customers. I feel that the managment should take note of these reviews, especially when the majority of reviewers are reporting back with similar comments.

Room Tip: We chose a room on the 4th floor had a lovely sea view but the rooms on "The Level" looked...

Stayed at the Melia for 5 nights at the end of August with my husband.Check in was very busy and a bit slow on our arrival but staff very helpful, friendly and polite. We arrived around 12 lunchtime and decided to upgrade to The Level at a cost of 50 Euros per night, room was not ready and we had to wait approx 2 hours for it to be made available.

On The Level you get a 5th floor room with free minibar, separate breakfast room, free alcoholic and soft drinks, snacks & tapas in The Level lounge from approx 10am to 10pm.The rooms on The Level are advertised as of a higher standard, having never stayed in any of the other rooms I can't comment on this but our room was extremely clean, well equipped, nicely decorated and had a very large bathroom, lots of high quality shower gels etc, hydromassage shower and jacuzzi bath, quite a well stocked minibar which was replaced daily, coffee machine, pillow and scent menu, robes and slippers. We asked to change our pillows and this was done within an hour, also received a turn down service a couple of nights with chocolates placed on the pillow.

When we first arrived in the room we noticed the turn handle to drain the bath wasnt working correctly we spoke to a maid outside and it was rectified within the hour, all the staff and maids are very helpful and friendly always say a good morning or hello. My only complaint about the room would be that it wasnt very big,too much furniture, a glass table and huge armchair took up a lot of room.We opted for a marina view after reading reviews as we would prefer the sun on the balcony in the afternoon. We stayed in room 5008 which is one of the furthest away rooms from The Level Lounge,so quite a trek along the 5th floor corridor to the lounge for a drink, this particular room also didnt get much sun on the balcony and got a lot of traffic noise neither of these things really bothered us though.

The Level Lounge didn't have much atmosphere, more like just a large room with tv, table, chairs, fridges, tapas and drink set out.You can help yourself though and the drinks are branded. We didnt use it much during the day but was nice for a few drinks before going out for dinner.Didn't eat evening meals in the hotel so cant comment on their restaurant, also didn't drink in hotel bar as it was very pricey. There is a balcony in the Level lounge which has views over the sea,and used by smokers and others just catching the rays and admiring the view, but it was locked most days we were there because of the wind catching the door when it was opened. The addition of a door closer would easily sort this problem rather than just locking it.

We used the main breakfast room every day choosing not to use the one on The Level so can't comment on the Level breakfast selection .Breakfast was just fantastic in the main breakfast room with beautiful views over the sea.Huge selection from cereal, all types of cooked breakfast foods, pancakes, pastries, cheeses, fruit and even Cava!! You name it and you could have it.Busy at times but we found going for breakfast at just after 9am the quietest time, again all staff extremely friendly and helpful.

We didn't use the swimming pool area in the hotel as it was very busy and a lot smaller area than you would expect for a hotel of this size.

Alicante itself is a lovely place and the hotel is perfectly situated for exploring or just walks along the prom.Would def recommend going to Santa Barbara Castle, amazing views from the top. There are lots of nice bars and restaurants just outside the hotel lined up alongside the Marina and there is a Casino just outside the hotel too.You get free entrance and free Cava by showing your hotel room key.

The only negative thing I would have to say about Alicante is as well as the usual hawkers selling stuff there are a lot of beggars around who just walk up to you in the street and put their hand out for money, this even happened to us at least a couple of times whilst sitting in restaurants.

Would I go back to the Melia hotel? probably yes I would,it is a lovely hotel, with great friendly staff in an ideal location, but not sure I would upgrade to The Level.Whilst there are other benefits to The Level it wasn't really value for money for us as we didnt spend much time in the hotel to benefit from the free drink and tapas in the lounge. It was a very enjoyable stay though.

We stayed here for one week in September. The young lady who was on the reception desk was very pleasant and helpful. Our room had a sea and beach view and the room was very clean and a good size. The bar staff were really nice and very attentive even though they were very busy on some evenings. The bus from the airport stops outside the hotel although we couldn't find the way to the reception area when we got off the bus. The bus from the airport takes about ten minutes to get to the hotel but the return journey takes half an hour as it goes around the town before going back to the airport. There were lots of loungers around the pool and when the morning sun moved around the hotel, there was another area near the pool with lots of loungers and the afternoon sun. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice of both hot and cold food. Would definitely recommend this hotel as it has the best location of all the hotels in Alicante.

Room Tip: Don't pay more for a room on The Level as eating and drinking in Alicante is reasonable and ther...
