A small and cosy interior with a rich, energetic atmosphere, friendly service and excellent food, specialising in 'montaditos' (mini filled bread rolls)and a variety of tapas. Her 'big sister', Cervecería Sento Barrio, is just 500 yards up the road, in the Barrio district of the city, and offers outsdoor and indoor seating, with the same quality of service and food.

“Excellent food and atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2012

Based on the reviews here we tried this place out, and we weren't disappointed. Just a great place for a tapas. If your Spanish isn't great just ask Pedro (seems to be the owner/manager) for his choice and he'll serve you up a fab selection. All the guys serving there are so proud of the quality of their food, and the atmosphere is lovely. Go early (8) to get a seat or wait, it's certainly worth it (they ring a bell when a seat comes free!)

“Delicious tapas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2012

You can have some very tasty montaditos (mini sandwiches) and tapas just in a few minutes at this bar. We had a great time there, because the staff was very funny, friendly and motivated.

“If ever in Alicante, this is a must try”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

After having heard some great reviews on Tripadvisor we decided to look the place up and thankfully it was within 10 minute walking distance of our hotel (because we were very lost on how to get there!)

When we arrived, the place which is tiny, was cramped with locals and even a large group had formed outside, eating and drinking on the sidewalk. The smell was alluring, so we decided to at least try one dish just for fun, even if we could barely stand in line.

The main chef, Pedro, is a energetic and friendly man who served us his favorite, the parmesan and balsamic chicken along with two glasses of some great Rioja. We were blown away by the texture and taste of the chicken and promised them to come back tomorrow since we were very tired after a long day and wanted to sit down somewhere.

Rest assured we came back the next day, and met some very friendly people who shared with us the best courses and wine. The mini tapas "hamburgers" and stuffed mushrooms were amazingly delicious and the cooked arm of calimari (squid) with garlic and olive oil, paprika og sea salt was my favorite, even though my girlfriend had a problem with the suction cups!

For my last course, I asked Pedro what he suggested and he told me he was going to make me something special. I received a flatbread with thinly sliced tenderloin, onions, gravy and some home-made spread that I can't begin to describe. It was the perfect ending to a great night.

For 5 courses, a bottle of red wine, two beers and two schnapps we paid 40 euro, and I can honestly say that I have never and will never again, experience food like this.

You won't either.

The staff is fun and friendly and the atmosphere is perfect for a night out for Tapas and some red wine!

“Great Place For The Real Tapas/Spanish Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2012

Me and my friend found this place from TA.

It was a bit tricky to find but we were so pleased when we did.
From the moment we went inside it was vibrant, friendly and we felt very comfortable.

I tried to speak Spanish asking what Tapas they had on the menu but it did not go too well.

The waiter just said in Spanigh you like meat/vegetables/cheese. We just said yes and he said i make special for you. We just ordereda bottle of Red wine that came out the fridge and relaxed.

We had 3 dishes including the Chicken with Balsamic vinegar.
I have had many Tapas meals but this was by far the best, coupled with the atmosphere we managed 2 bottles of the red wine and had a great night.

Find it and try it!

“Well, excellent I guess!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2012 via mobile

Really nice, proper Spanish food served in a very quaint little bar. The size of it creates the great atmosphere along with the happy nature of the three chefs/bar staff. Excellent tapas. Full of locals (always the thing to look for). Not expensive. What more do you want?

Get here immediately and stop eating that tourist rubbish that plagues Alacant!
