My wife and I stayed here in early August. Had been staying in Torrevieja with friends and had been burning the candle at both ends. We had previously arranged to go to Alicante for two nights on our own and chose Mio Cid. This is a very nice hotel. It is very peaceful around the pool and there was always access to sun beds. The decor was lovely and the staff were very friendly and always helpful. We only ate a pizza so cant comment on the food. The beer was fine though! We chose not to bother trying to find the bus as the receptionist felt it was about 10 mins walk.....and it was hot....and we were lazy...It was about 9-10 euro into town at night but hey..we're on holiday. Alicante was good fun; plenty bars and restaurants...Packed with people. I HAD to see a football game one of the nights. Tried various Irish bars(which unfortunately were Irish in name only{although the staff were very nice}) without success. Eventually,I found a bar called Houston down towards the old town where two lovely Spanish staff got me sorted when I gave them the appropriate codes. Problem solved. Worth taking a little trip into into it on your way to the lovely old town area.....nice to sit and eat among some antique buildings.Beautiful old church there. Would highly recommend Mio Cid and might give another call again.

still here by the pool on our last night at the Mio Cid. Its a small friendly hotel. great transport links. (the number 22 bus takes you either to Alicante or San Juan beach for 1.45). The restaurant is usually busy but great value at 12.50 for a three course meal (and you get plenty with it too). The rooms could do with a spruce up and the air con needs to be a bit more powerful but we wernt in the room that long that it bothered us. All in all a nice place to stay. Great for a short week or loong weekend.

It was almost full every night. The breakfast got a bit boring over the 9 nights I stayed there. It is good but every day the same. If you stay some days they may add a yoghurt or a fresh fruit to your daily diet of 1! coffee plus fresh orange juice, 1 croissant, 2 toasted slices of baguette, 1-2 slices ham, 1-2 slices cheese, jam and butter. Extra costs extra. The kitchen is very good. The place has pool, 200 m to the sea and shoppijg centrexand bus stop close by. Rooms are very clean with balcony, nice TV and the bathroom with all amenities. Overall fresh experience.

The hotel is in a quiet area. Nice decorated and clean rooms with free wifi and a little fridge. A little balcony with chairs and table and a little sea view. Nice pool area and 2. row to the beach close by. This beach is nice for a walk, and has a really nice view to Alicante in the evening, but if you want a nice beach to swim or enjoy the sun, then go a little to the right. Easy access by bus to Alicante. Extra charge to park in the basement of the hotel, but we found easily a place to parc for free in the street.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the main road with a nice sea view.

We stayed 3 nights in the hotel as part of our multi leg trip in Alicante and Valencia. The area where one is situated is quite residential with very high buildings and as well some fancy villas. Actually this was the best part of our experience. The hotel is small and at the moment of our visit was half full. We came very late (after midnight) and the reception was still open and waiting for us. The room was definitely not big, but with a balcony facing the inner yard and the pool (which we did not have time to try at all). As I mentioned the hotel looks very disconnected from the reality around and it seems to be used from backpackers, people travelling around etc...

One advise: Think carefully if you want to use the free underground parking. It is very hard to move in a big car and it is twice harder to take it out. Extremely not useful parking lot. There is plenty of free space around and the area looks very safe. So, you don't benefit from this.

the hotel looks great from outside but rooms fairly basic no coffee making facilities
the pool was dirty and was not used
the staff were fantastic apart from one woman at the desk who asking any thing seem to be a lot of trouble for her which was a shame really because everyone else was very helpful and kind i so glad i never met her on me first day otherwise i would of tarred everyone with the same brush
breakfast was simple and continental but the waiter was brilliant. The food was good at the evening and a 3 course dinner was great for 15 euro including a nice beer . i so glad i never let that nasty lady ruin what was a great stay

Room Tip: rooms have all good views but right side of hotel on road and you get woken up in early hours by ref...
