Although we were visiting during the off season, this hotel was nice for a weekend get away. I can imagine during the summer months it would be perfect for a beach vacation. Each room has it´s own balcony with a table and two chairs, airconditioning and heat. The problem is that the beach that is in walking distance doesn´t appear to be functional for swimming. However, there is a bus stop across the street that takes people right into Alicante center and has a stop by the beach there. Over all it was worth the price during the off season.

I enjoyed my short stay in Mio Cid hotel. The hotel is situated in Alicante’s suburbs but in my opinion it was perfect location.
Hotel itself is really nice, looks like a little castle. People are friendly and you can communicate either in English or Spanish.
Breakfast really basic, same everyday and you want to have lots of variety – wake up early because by 9am eggs and soft cheese is gone. Pool is small and it wasn’t really clean hence I didn’t use it. But who would use a pool when you are just 10 minutes away from amazing sandy beach?!
If you fancy a dinner at the restaurant you need to walk 15 minutes minimum, but walk is enjoyable. I must also add that the view from outside hotel (the best from second floor’s balcony) is stunning!! Looking at the St Barbara castle during the sunset takes a breath away.
Good value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for floor room, try not to get ground level one as might be a little bit too noisy.

Just returned from 11 night stay at Mio Cid. The hotel is small and quiet in a quiet location a fair distance from the city centre(certainly not within walking distance as some reviewers have stated).
Staff pleasant and most understand some english, rooms adequate, not enough storage and surprisingly no safe in room (could use Hotel safe at reception). We were on the 2nd floor, the hotel only has 2 floors and had no problem with air con and hotel was busy while we were there.
Breakfast was nothing startling what you would expect, snack menu basic and tasty, had the set menu 3 courses for 15 euro each well worth it (only ate once as hubby is quite a plain eater and no other nights menu appealed). Rooms cleaned daily but they didn't seem to clean corridor floors. Terrace and pool areas small but cosy were never too crowded as most people
were away from hotel during the day, only problem we had was bar staff didn't/weren't keen to come out and ask if you wanted a refill or to clean the tables, especially round the pool area. Not a lot around the hotel to do or see went into Alicante most nights for evening meal, plenty to choose from as long as your not looking for British cuisene, lots of pasta and pizza.
Eating out was a experience as not much English spoken or understood, was part of the fun. We never had a bad meal or service from anyone. If your looking for something different the Mio Cid would suit. The 22 bus runs about every 20 mins and is only 1.40 euro each way, seems to be a set price as it doesn't matter where you get on the bus it's the same price.
Hotel bar reasonable for drinks.

The hotel is a quite strange medioeval like structure, that I personally didn't like a lot. There is nothing particularly bad. The room is big enough, the bathroom is complete with bidet and bath; there is also a balcony, but it's not a cute place. We only spent one night, so we didn't use the swimming pool. The hotel is not in the center so if you don't have a car you should take a bus to go out in the evening. Anyway there is a beach 5 minutes walking. To end my review, I would say that if you enjoy not feeling in a quite anonymous hotel, probably you will not like this place a lot.
