“Good value, courteous service”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

I booked at the last minute at a very good rate. Arriving around 10pm on a flight from London, I appreciated the easy of access, free parking and especially the fact that I could get a freshly cooked meal of a high standard up to 11pm, served by pleasant staff. The rooms are clean and well designed. For Brits like me who can't function in the morning without tea, the kettle with amenity tray is a strong plus. The inclusive breakfast offers pastries as well as cheese and cold cuts. The hotel is ideal for an overnight stop.

Location, location, location! Although only ca 4km outside Alicante town, if you are reliant upon public transport you will have some fun and games!

Although there are two perfectly good and functioning bus stops almost right outside the hotel (1 in direction of town, other heading for airport) some bus drivers will stop there, others will not. Problem is, if the bus driver makes you get of a stop earlier or later, you will find yourself navigating a fast and dangerous road WITHOUT a pavement / sidewalk - pretty scary. Tried to get to the bottom of this, both with hotel staff and locals........ Seems there is a disagreement between hotels / bus company / town council...... Whatever, it needs to get sorted! Sadly Tourist Information at Airport seem to be in on whatever's going on here, as they too fail to provide accurate information ( we experienced that they seemed he'll bent on getting us to take a taxi at 14Euro at trip!)

IF and WHEN they get bus situation sorted, it could work very well for travellers wanting to use public transport. The C6 bus runs on a loop from Alicante Airport - Alicante town - Alicante Airport every 20 minutes. Regular single journey price just under 3 Euro, however you can get a 10 single trip card from driver for 14 Euro ( this includes 2 Euro for card on first purchase, top-up thereafter = 12 Euro for 10 single trips). Makes travelling very cheap!

When we did get to the hotel, Daniel on reception was simply amazing. Friendly, courteous, giving over and above to ensure we had all the local information required for a super three day break. Daniel, you are a genuine asset to Holiday Inn Express. Sadly, the other staff seemed uninterested and aloof......

Room was clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable, with good pillows and duvets, and afforded a great nights sleep. Our room was front facing which gave us a great view over the Med. As others have, however mentioned, this is not near a sunbathing type beach and the coast is only a couple of hundred metres away, but alas one would have to navigate a major road and unprotected railway line to reach the sea!

The room has a small amount of open wardrobe storage space, a flat screen TV, tea/coffee making facilities and wifi (complimentary if you sign up to the free HIE rewards scheme).

The bathroom was fairly standard and clean, with an over the bath shower facility. Complimentary shower gel and hand cleanser from dispensers is available.

The complimentary continental breakfast was fairly basic and unexciting. All the usual items are available, cereals, yoghurt, rolls, pastries, toast, sliced cheese, meat, juice, tea, coffee. More than enough to set you up for the day.

All in all an adequate stay. Would I recommend to family and friends? Possibly, if you have a car.

Room Tip: Hotel really best suited for travellers with a car, as public transport a real nightmare.

Like all Holiday Inn Express hotels, this is really designed for one night stop overs and, for that, it is more than adequate. It is ideally placed for the airport, less than a 5 minute drive away. If you actually want to visit the town of Alicante, you would do much better to choose a hotel in the town.

The non-smoking room that I had was a good size and clean and comfortable. It did have a, sort of, sea-view, although obliquely and with a good part taken up by the back of the Ibis next door! My only criticism was the choice of TV channels. The list in the room included BBC and CNN, but they certainly were not programmed into my room's TV. The only stations with any content in English were the Disney Channel (yuk!) and a Discovery channel.

The "Great Room", that houses reception, the bar and the restaurant is somewhat soulless, with the layout of the restaurant tables being reminiscent of a school canteen. The staff, however, were very polite and friendly.

The buffet breakfast is adequate with rolls, slices of ham, cheese and spiced meat, cereals, fruit, small croissants etc and a machine for endless coffee. Thankfully, on weekdays it is available from 6.30 am.

If you are an IHG rewards member (it's free to sign up, so what have you got to lose!) you get free Wi-Fi in your room.

I expect that I will stay here again when I have an early flight.

Dear Tauntonbob,

Thank you so much for taking the time and let us know your opinion about our hotel.

Regarding the issue with the TV channels, please, do not hesitate to contact us to inform the rooms number because we recently changed Tv and we have increased the channel options and must work in all rooms.

We will be more than happy to welcoming you again soon.

Thanks and kind regards,

Ok, so I knew that this wasn't going to be a great hotel. So didn't expect much. It was very basic. Staff where very friendly. The breakfast Buffett was not horrible, you cannot use wifi in your rooms. If you do they will charge you for this. You can only use the free wifi in the downstairs lobby and they change the password every day. So you have ask for the password everyday. Luckily I didn't need to use too much of the wifi because we were out most of the time. The beach which they say is close by is not accessible unless you have a death wish. You have to jump over a train track, after trekking through the gravel and bushes. The real beach is a 10 minute bus ride. Lots and lots of children. And old men sugar daddies. I had a great holiday in alicante, it just didn't have any thing to do with the hotel. Oh and the concierge broke my suitcase man handling it. I have to buy a new one.

Nice hotel midway between the city and Airport. Right opposite the sea. Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Rooms are decent size and have the usual Holiday inn additions
It was just my bad luck that their was a mini heatwave the day I stayed and they had shut the Airconditioning system down during the previous cold week.
Hotel restaurant is very good.
Overall good value hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room!

We stayed here on three separate nights after arriving at or leaving Alicante airport. The rooms and breakfasts for two were excellent value at 34 to 38 Euro per night for the two of us. The rooms were clean and the TVs offered 100s of channels, but only Sky News and BBC World were in English. The toilets in two of the rooms were hard to flush.

The English directions to drive the 3 miles from the airport to the hotel indicated it was near a large European Union Harmonisation Office (OHIM). It would have helped if it had given us the Spanish road signs of OAMI. You should also be aware that the busy main road outside has no pavements.

Stayed as usual the night before flying out of Alicante. Welcome better on this visit and good rooms, breakfast as usual very good bearing in mind price per room. If travelling any distance to Airport for am flight would reccommend travelling day before and using this Hotel.

Room Tip: Front of Hotel looks across sea
