This family-run restaurant up in the hills behind Playa San Juan is a delight. Packed with Spanish customers lunchtimes and evenings, booking is essential unless you like queuing! The menu is all about meat, and the portions are interesting. We always have a veal steak, mainly because it's the smallest thing on the menu. T-bone steak is simply awesome. There is a huge list of delicious starters - morcilla, chistorras, salchichas, pedras pimientos and the delicious bruschettas, but order them at your peril unless your appetite is enormous. We also go there at lunchtime - order several starters with papas Canarias and a bottle of wine - the perfect lunch.
Very little English is spoken, but this year (for the first time) there is a menu in slightly fractured English, so ordering is not too difficult for those with little Spanish. Wine prices are very reasonable and a refreshing change from some overpriced lists down on the coast! The staff are charming and it's all great fun.
One small warning - the road up from Playa San Juan is steep and has many poorly-marked hairpin bends, so unless you are confident on local roads its better to drive up (or down) the main Guia Isora road.

This is a beautiful little family run restaurant in the village of Tejina de Isora. Myself, my wife and our families have been going there for years. Its a great little secret that only few people know of. The staff are so friendly but if you don't speak spanish do not expect them to know english, german etc...

It is completely for the carnivore and no vegetarians are allowed!

Indulge yourself in the Higado de Pollo or the flaming Salchichas and then have a great steak washed down with an exceptional bottle of wine. At the end of it all leave with a big smile on your face and not too much damage to your credit card bill.

Well worth the trip and not too far of you have a car but again with a taxi it is not too bad from a cost perspective.

My partner advised me that I should not write a review of this wonderful restaurant, as if it gets any more popular we will never be able to get a table again! This is heaven on earth for meat eaters. The quality of the food is outstanding. The environment is delightfully Canarian. You can watch your food being prepared as the kitchen is in full view of the dining area. Be adventurous and eat one of the many starters that you do not recognise - you will be delighted. Yes, you will need a car and it will be hard to find without local knowledge, but make the effort. You will not be disappointed.

On an unassuming little street in Tejina de Isora is the most wonderful restaurant, Las Goteras. It is worth noting that you should probably be a meat eater, as there are no fish options on the menu. But if you love meat, especially meat cooked over beach wood smoke, this is the place to come. Portions are extremely generous (and the staff is quite happy to wrap up leftovers for you to take home). Be careful about ordering starters as they are huge - perhaps order one for two people to share. You can spend as much or as little as you like at Las Goteras, and will always have an excellent meal. Do book ahead as they get full up very quickly.
