Villa Bredina
Reviewed August 11, 2013

We were a group of 33 people, and we were very happy indeed. Wonderful views from the windows, spacious dining room, and good food. The front garden has lovely trees, and there is a beautiful swimming pool, but most of all the staff, headed by Arturo and Clandia, were wonderfully warm and friendly, and we all had a good time there. Fantastic value!

As ever, Villa Bredina and its owners, Claudia and Arturo, more than lived up to expectations. This time, we spent a whole week here, including an unscheduled seventh night, and were made as welcome as ever. Everything in my former report still stands, and the carping comments of other reviewers need to be ignored. There is no way that Arturo would behave as described, and I can only imagine that those reviewers must have mistaken which hotel they were staying at. Next year, we'll be back with friends, and then in 2015 with the whole family to celebrate a very special birthday. We can't wait.

Room Tip: Lake facing rooms, especially on the second floor, all have wonderful views.

This is my first review on Trip Advisor, sadly its to warn others that despite having booked this hotel months inadvance and having receiving confirmation of our booking, our booking was cancelled and the accomadation changed with less than 24hrs notice. On arriving we were coldy informed that the rooms had been doubled booked but not to worry as he had booked alternative superior accomadation. The alternative accomadation was neither superior and the Hotel made all possible efforts to avoid making any refund or compensation. This was an unpleasent start to a holiday. It was clear we had been kicked out so he could take advantage of a better booking. My only practical advise to any one considering staying here is to take a tent with them. Buyer beware!!!!!!

A group of 8 of us had booked at this hotel, months ago, paying a deposit up front and had a confirmation. our booking included 8 single en-suite rooms, on a half board basis at 50 euros pppn. our booking was for 4 nights!

the night before we flew out, the hotel owner rang the group leader to advise that he had moved us to another hotel as he had taken a wedding booking, but reassured us that the other hotel was even better than this one (hmmmmm.... we were suspicious!...if it was so much better, why did the othe people not want to stay there).

When we arrived, he would not even let us look around the hotel, but ushered us off the site quickly and took us to the other hotel. he said that the wedding party had booked a year ago but when we asked him why he had then taken our money and confirmed the reservation, he did not reply.

it was clear that the other hotel was not of a better standard than Villa Bredina - he had basically lied to us. the better quality accommodation consisted of us having to share rooms, some 'single' rooms had no ensuites and people in those rooms had to use a communal bathroom... there was also no swimming pool or tennis court.

we had no choice but to stay there as we would have spent the rest of the day looking at hotels, which may not have been able to accommodate all of us.

The owner of Villa Bredina was even reluctant to give us our deposit back!! and he wanted us to pay the same price at this other hotel. we managed to negotiate the price down with the hotel owner of the new hotel.

The owner of Villa Bredina was rude and arrogant, did not understand what a difficult situation he had put us in and did not really want to help us sort out other accommodation. he did not want to find other hotels for us. when we suggested that the least he could do was to give us a free meal, he wanted to take that cost out of the deposit.

the group leader eventually got the deposit back, but only after camping out in their reception and refusing to move. we did get the dinner - which was awful!!

so, if you are thinking of staying at this hotel, do so at your own peril as there is no guarantee that you will have a room (even if you have paid a deposit and have a confirmation to confirm your reservation)

If you want faceless five star luxury, flunkies everywhere, air conditioning blasting at you, well-stocked minibars and cable television, the Villa Bredina is not for you. For everyone else, read on...

Claudia and Arturo run the friendliest hotel I've ever had the priviledge to stay in. They have a real pleasure in making your stay comfortable and happy, and have the advantage of some of the best views in Italy (available from the hotel terrace and every bedroom), of Monte Isola, the largest island lake in Europe.

There's a pool where they'll always bring you drinks, the lake, with a public beach and snack bar, is three minutes walk away, and Iseo, a bustling little resort town (huge street market on Fridays) is tewn minutes drive away. Sale Marisino is an idealk base for excursions to Verona, Bergamo and all points between. But most of all, it's a marvellous place to relax.

Not only to relax, but to eat too. The hotel's restaurant has a good menu and a huge range of pizzas, all served with very acceptable local wines. The weekday lunchtime pranzo di lavoro is to die for, and at 10 Euros for three course and wine, amazingly good value.

So is everything else. For a five night, six day stay, including room, breakfast, dinner, several lunches and countless drinks, the bill came to less that 700 Euros for the two of us, and that included a generous and well-deserved tip.

This was our third stay here, and we'll certainly be back.

Room Tip: The best views of the lake are from the second floor bedrooms.
