We stayed here for a week in early June 2013 and enjoyed it so much we would most definitely return. Our maxicaravan (more like a cabin) was very clean and well-equipped, perfect for a couple with/without children or friends. We have a 14 month-old son so holidays can be far from relaxing but there was so much here to keep him occupied! A great park for the little ones, a large clean pool with a few slides and a little beach area next to the lake. This camping site is actually on lake Mergozzo, about 1km from the much larger Lake Maggiore. We were glad that we chose to stay on this smaller lake because the larger lake has a busy road going around it so this site was much more pleasant and quiet. There is a small supermaket on site, plus a cafe, restaurant and ice-cream stall. Lots of toilet/changing facitlities and entertainment for kids, plus some for adults too like Italian lessons and exercise classes, tennis courts, table tennis football etc. There is a little town on the lake called Mergozzo and it is really pretty and stunning, off the beaten track a little. There is a lot to do around Lake Maggiore too, such as visiting the islands, Villa Trantano or just looking around the towns and soaking up the Italian atmosphere. A visit to Lake Orta was also lovely. The area is truly stunning, with the mountains in the distance and green peaks. The camp is popular with Germans, Italians, people from the Netherlands and the Swiss. If you don't like kids it's probably best not to stay here as it is very family orientated. When we visited slightly out of the main season it was about a quarter full which was perfect. I can imagine it would be a bit overrun in full season.
My only criticisms were: hard for us to get out and walk with a pushchair as many of the roads don't have a pavement. Our car was very much needed with a baby in tow.
And you have to wear a swimming cap to go in the pool, available from the shop at 2 euro each.
Air con / heater a bit noisy.
The staff were also helpful and friendly and also returned our passports by recorded delivery without us even asking. At least I know where we left them now!
Although this was a family trip I would recommend the camp for anyone wanting to stay somewhere beautiful cheaply.
