“Great outside terrace and nice food (but...)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2012

We ate here twice during a 4 night stay at Palazzo Viviani , the first thing to say is that there is an absolutely stunning view from the terrace across countryside to the coast , the staff are attentive and pleasant , and the menu gives adequate choice to satisfy most tastes , but all main courses are meat ( fish dishes are served in a separate restaurant in an adjacent courtyard in the centre of the village ) and on our first visit we both ate the fillet steak and enjoyed it very much . The second visit was not so successful because we hadn't intended to be at this restaurant at all for this evening ( my wife's birthday ) our vacation package included a four course 'gourmet' dining experience in Palazzo Vivianis premier restaurant 'Il Ristoro di Palazzo Viviani' , however this was not being operated during the height of the tourist season ( why ? ) , and the choice was either the meat or the fish restaurant . To add insult to injury a restricted menu choice was offered , which by no stretch of the imagination could be described as gourmet ( we calculate that it cost no more than E50 for all 4 courses ) as we didn't have a copy of Luxurylinks package details with us we couldn't dispute what was being offered there and then , but will certainly be taking the matter further with Luxurylink and the management of Palazzo Viviani .
The moral of this story is that if the offer of a '4 course gourmet meal' is a dealmaker for you , then don't bother , you will get a better meal ( and cheaper ) in the local Agroturismo restaurant located 5 minutes down the hill , and they have the great views to look at too

“Wonderful location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2012

The restaurant features local food and wine which is what we always look for in a good restaurant, and not too expensive. The views are outstanding from all tables. Service was not too fast or too slow. We enjoyed our chat with the cook, he had just been to Australia. His English was excellent. Highly recommended.

“Good lunch but nothing amazing, kept indoors on great day”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2011

Service was pretty good as we were the second couple in the restaurant for lunch. Another two couples arrived after but we pretty much had the place to ourselves for most of our meal.
We tried a cheese plate with local flavored honeys, it was really good. We tried a simple pappardelle dish with fresh tomatoes and a gnocchi with cheese sauce, both were really tasty and good. We then each had a dessert, the panna cotta with caramel sauce on top was delicious while the zabaione my husband took was frozen but as it melted it was really creamy. Would definitely eat there again even if we'd have liked to try one of the other restaurants in the village (but were closed at lunch). It was a bit pricey since we had the one starter, two pasta dishes and two desserts, no wine, just water and we paid about 50 euro. It would also have been great to eat outside given the nice weather but it seems the terrace is only open in the evenings - inside, it was a bit warm.
