I pre booked a family room for the Strand Inn in February 2013 for August 2013. Three adults were staying in the room and the room description fitted perfectly. Even though it was a family room the drop down menu did not allow me to enter 3 adults so I called The Strand Inn to confirm. This was confirmed with no issue. Upon check in they had no note of this and charged us an extra €40.
Staff on duty had no authority. I was told the owner would contact me, that was 3 days ago and nobody has been in touch.
Really disappointing especially as I have been a returning customer the past 5 years.

Went here with 15 friends on a stag weekend and nothing is too much trouble at this hotel.Check in is fast and we were in room 3 on the first floor with shower room and a really comfortable bed and a balcony giving a brilliant view over the bay.Breakfast has cereal, juice and a choice of cooked meal , just sk the ladies who make you feel welcome. Threr are two areas inside to sit and relax with live music at the weekend. The best place for me is the seating area outside where there is plenty of room fo large parties such as our to sit and chill with enormous parasols to sit under at night with heaters fitted should it get chilly at night. A special mention must go to Cliff who runs this place and always has a smile and a time to chat. I would definately stay here again

The strand is just round the corner from where we live and we visit regularly. The food is especially good, they do fantastic sea food and there's nothing better than sitting outside and looking out across the bay while enjoying a drink.
They regularly do art exhibitions as well inside which is worth sticking your head in for. If you're down on the beach anyway it's a great place to pop into. The staff are always friendly and it's a great place to bring the family.

This has to be one of the most magical by the sea summer chilled out vibes in Ireland.

The food is tip top with the fish super fresh and delicious.

The room had a great view of the small bay and was stylish and cozy.

And as for the staff friendly and helpful.

Get going.

Booked in for three nights, with three kids including one baby. Had a spacious double room overlooking the harbour, right on the sea, twenty steps from the beach, very happy with that. Ate in the restaurant two nights and they were very accommodating. By breakfast of the second morning the waitress was on first name basis with the boys. Plan to come back again.

From seeing this place on TV I was really taken aback how overpriced and overrated it has become. I found the room which my wife and I were put in as oversized box room where no dusting had taken place, dirty floor carpet, and which overlooked a back yard with rotting box of lettuces and buckets of dirty water. The location of The Strand is beautiful but the premises was a pub with food and beds. There was no porter on night duty to prevent noisy patrons from waking you up at 2.30.am in the morning. There was no one to contact if there was problem in the Inn. Our food which was overpriced consisted of garlic shrimps with a salad on the side and a darn of salmon with veg and potatoes. We got a pint of lager and a bottle of Bud. This meal cost us €53 approx. The following day we went to The Spinnaker and their 3 course meal and a bottle of wine was just €60 euros all in. This was literally 50 yards from The Strand. There didn't seem to be anyone in charge of the Strand. Empty pint glasses were left upstairs and behind reception with cigarette ends left outside. Our towels weren't changed until the afternoon of the following say when we booked in. There was great nights entertainment with a duo of young men singing their hearts out. Staff at the Strand were helpful and pleasant if not a little under pressure to oversee reception, dining room and bar. As there was no one person in charge it will be some time before I return to this location. My advice to the owners start taking responsibility and sort things out. You've regressed instead of progressed.

I was quoted € 85 yo yo for a Singles Room midweek there this week. Times have changed since they got the Free publicity on T V from Francis Brennans Reality Show. Before that things were Lean in The Strand now it seems things are Mean. There are plenty of Bargains to be got in Hotels around the country. Its a nice location lovely village. But they should not frighten away customers with High Prices its not the Park Hotel Kenmare where Francis would Greet you with his lovely Smileeeeeeeee. Tommytourist
