“Just WOW”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

Found this place on Tripadvisor and fell in love with it just from looking at the website and reading some reviews. I needed a rest from working really hard and feeling quite stressed - perfect place, ticks both boxes. We booked a mid-week special for Weds and Thurs night.

We arrived at 3pm and were shown to our room by a really nice French chap (embarrassed that we didn't get his name because he was a star so I'll call him Mr F). He gave us a tour of the house and then took us on to our room - St Jean - and explained how to use the hot tub which was really simple so not sure why others have commented (moaned) about this. The hot tub was amazing, we hit it straight away then chilled in our room before getting ready for dinner.

We went to the bar around 7.15 and had a cocktail before dinner. Dinner was a 3 course set menu but there were 4 or 5 different dishes for each course. The food was just amazing. You can see the chefs busy at work while dining. It's a really nice dining room. I'm no expert when it comes to wine but we like it and so we asked Mr F for a recommendation based on our meal choices and he recommended one that we'll have and buy again. Three Cape Sisters - lovely. We asked again for the next night and he suggested Cupids Arrow which was gorgeous. After dinner we went to the bar and enjoyed some rum before heading back to the hot tub! The food was amazing and we tried some things that we wouldn't normally eat. Good effort to the Yorebridge House chefs. We thoroughly enjoyed fine dining. Breakfast was also really nice and tasty too. The staff were all very professional but very approachable.

The St Jean room was lovely, the hot tub was private and not overlooked. The bed was really comfy and the room was really very pretty. The TV was great, plenty of channels but there's also a DVD player to use. The bathroom and walk in shower was amazing too but I did miss not having a bath. I think I'd opt for a room with a bath the next time I visit.

We didn't want to leave the room but felt that we ought to at least go out and do some sight seeing on our 2nd night.

If you're reading the reviews and wondering whether to do it or not then it's simple - just do it.

Thanks to all at Yorebridge House for a fabulous time and especially Mr F who gave us some great advice and help with choosing some fabulous drinks. Sailor Jerry being one of them and Kraken for my other half.

Love it!

We were en-route to somewhere a little further afield when we drove past Yorbridge House.
A quick google, a phone call and we about turned and made our way back

Everything from the minute we stepped through the door was wonderful.
Warm, modern, clean and well decorated. Friendly and attentive staff
Superb wine list - something for everyones taste and budget and a well stocked, varied bar.
The food more than lived up to the menu and we were so please we had made the decision to turn round and dine here
I've dropped hints to the other half that it would make a great place for a night away for a birthday treat - or anytime treat!!

I decided to try dishes I wouldn't normally go for and was not disappointed. The Rabbit and Fois Gras starter was just wonderful.

We live only just over half an hours drive away and had never heard of Yorbridge House but I'm certain we shall be returning time after time. It certainly gives the Lakes hotels and restaurants more than a good run for their money.
Can't believe we (nor friends) knew it was here
I've recommended it to several friends already - some are already planning a visit.

Looking forward to our return

We went here for a bit of a treat and weren't disappointed. Great bar and restaurant, attentive staff, really nice rooms. The food at both dinner and breakfast was really well done, and the two AA rosettes are well deserved. Would definitely recommend this if you want a great weekend break.

Have just got back from the Yorebridge House and now planning our next visit. We have never been to a hotel with such friendly staff, where nothing is to much trouble and they seem truly interested in the client. We stayed in the Rengali room with hot tub and were not disappointed one bit when we were shown around by Megan.
We had all our meals there and could not have wished for better service or food, from out lunch to breakfast the following morning, all was perfect and delicious, my wife has to be truly impressed to call food delicious. I was impressed with the pricing of the bar, I had expected to pay more for my drinks, as is usual in 5 star hotels. All in all you get what you pay for and we certainly got what we paid for, a truly delightful hotel and staff.

Room Tip: Any room with a hot tub, there are 6 of them.

This is a true hidden treasure! A warm welcome from the staff, although you might have to wait a few minutes for service if guests arrive at the same time, the rooms are individual and well decorated and ours had the option of an outdoor hot tub. Fantastic with a glass of fizz as the snow started to fall.
The hotel itself has a fascinating history and has been lovingly restored by the owners, who are on hand to regale the tale.
The lounge area is cosy and relaxing and the restaurant is excellent, both for service and food. You just can't resist the 3 course options with good recommendations of accompanying wines. Breakfast also hits the spot, ranging from continental, eggs all ways, and of course the full Yorebridge.
This is great for a romantic retreat!

Stayed in the Rangali room. Very nice, not overly large but comfortable. Bathroom very good but think the shower drain may need some attention! Lovely hottub and outdoor area. Enjoyed pre dinner drinks with very attentive and friendly bar staff. Dinner was varied menu with nice canapes, good ambience. Good breakfast the next day although staff a little chaotic. Not sure if the whole area can get broadband but lack of wifi a real issue made worse by lack of mobile signal. Surprised not to be offered a guest questionnaire or asked if everything was okay. Very satisfied but for the price would have gladly offered detailed feedback so they could address issues e.g smelly shower. Happy to recommend and would visit again.

This is a well situated hotel

Very comfortable lounge bar and restaurant area.

Bedroom (Jasper) bed spacious but the bath was somewhat narrow and required a mountain goat agility to get out of. The toilet and bath are only separated by a half wall from the main bedroom thus a discrete turning up of the TV volume was required whilst the loved one was performing his morning rituals!!

The staff were universally very welcoming, helpful and friendly and the leaflets for the localwalks the best we have used.

The breakfast was excellent and the evening dining Ok though the main course, for want of a better word was a little anaemic. The Monk cheese and the local blue were excellent but I would skip the brie.

Could I suggest itemised billing for the bar / restaurant billing since this makes checking the billing easier and saves embarrassment or alternatively the Italian model of signing them off at the end of the evening.

Some of the rooms have hot tubs: I suspect this hotel suits younger romantics.
