“Fantastic hotel in the Dales”

Just had our 37th wedding aniversary at Yorebridge house , staying in the `Rangali room with hot tub, can honestly say we were very impressed with the accomodation, service, & food the room was lovely & warm, comfortable king size bed, & great walk in shower, the hot tub was second to none & fantastic to sit in with the snow falling on us, the Michelin starred restaurant served great innovated food ( reccomend the scallops, & loin of pork ) & a good wine cellar, all the staff from reception to restaurant staff were excellent, & couldn`t do enough to help, woul`d not hesitate to recommend to family & friends,

My wife and I had the pleasure of a two night stay at Yorebridge House over New Year 2012. This was our third visit to the hotel (our first visit was in March 2012).

Our greeting could not have been warmer, in fact we were greeted in the car park when we arrived. The receptionist knew without having to check which room we were staying in, and was aware that we'd stayed in the room (Nishiki - complete with double rainfall showers, a roll-top bath and hot tub in a private patio area) previously, which was as elegantly furnished as we remembered.

We feel that the personal, attentive service that we received throughout our stay - including during a very busy New Year's Eve evening - was pitched absolutely correctly, with all staff being happy to engage with their customers. The evening's food was, as ever, imaginative and superbly realised, and we had a delicious light lunch in the bar on the second day of our stay.

Once again we had a fantastic stay at Yorebridge House, and once again we left having booked our next visit. Thank you to all at the hotel who make our stays so enjoyable.

Yorebridge House set just on edge of the village of Bainbridge, between Leyburn and Hawes.
A beautiful tranquil setting by the side of the Ure river.
Rooms are boutique, each one different, some with hot tubs, a couple sat overlooking the river others looking towards the dales.
Lashings of hot water, Molton Brown toiletries, homemade shortbread in your room.
Restaurant very pretty in the evening with candles lit on each table, spoilt for choice on the menu, local produce when possible, everything very delicious.
Good wine list, a little depleted when we stayed after the Christmas holiday, but they had what we wanted, nice cosy bar area and residents lounge.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
We booked package of B&B with dinner a good option.
Look forward to visiting in summer and enjoying terrace with Dales views, it should be wonderful.

Room Tip: Rooms on river, look good. Our room was Pianza, it's over bar, my husband could hear the fridge...

The bride and groom had come across this hotel by chance. What a lucky day that was! The family met from all over the country for a winter wedding. Unfortunately the weather was not good but inside the hotel was comfortable and warm. We stayed in the old school in a huge room which was very hot. We were not too keen on the toilet room without a door (or fan). The room was very dark, even with all the lights on. The grandchildren were delighted with the hot tub. The food at the hotel was excellent. The walk into Bainbridge was not too far. It is a very interesting village.

Room Tip: Each room is different. The old school is separate from the main hotel which is a bit of a nuisance...

A nicely done hotel, in fact unusually nice for a British country hotel. Each room has an outdoor jacuzzi although the controls were not well explained and ours ran for 20 seconds at a time which was annoying.
We had the japanese themed room which was great except the bed is a four poster and obscurred the wall mounted TV which had been clumsily placed on the worst possible wall. All programmes were watched with a wooden beam down the middle.

The restaurant is quite stylish and has a nice menu. However there is a problem with either the waiting staff or the kitchen as both at dinner and brekkie part of our order was completely wrong. The staff are nonetheless friendly and helpful.

The very english problem which spoilt our stay was that this hotel bills itself as England's most romantic hotel yet when we returned to our room on a cold night, after dinner, the room heating had switched off and the bedroom and bathroom were freezing. When we woke up at 8ish the next day the heating was just coming on. This does not assist anyone enjoying a romantic time!!!

Room Tip: All good but pack a hot water bottle

Well, how do i start - on arrival we were told by the receptionist ,we would not be able to have lunch there ,"there was a function on but ,the pub in the next villiage ,does food" !? Tired from the drive , we settled the disappointing start to our wedding anniversary ,with a glass of wine and food at the pub , what a shame we couldnt give the hotel our custom! We got back to the Yorebridge to be shown ,to be shown to our room 'RANGALI' the first thing we noticed was a terrible smell, nothing explained this even doing a full search for an offending item! No other room would have been available so we resorted to full window and door opening, great shame to heat the outside as the thermostat was broken ,so it pumped out heat all night uncontrolably. My husband suggested using the HOT TUB at this point to try and cheer us up!! As we both got out there was a hugh thud ,and the wooden fence poles that the gazebo above the hot tub,was tied too gave under the strain with the wind and fell int the tub ,at top speed . We watched on, with shock and thanks ,we were not still in it !!! fatal i believe it would have been. On calling reception staff hurried round to repair this -what would have happened if we were both hit and unconcious i wonder? We were then offered a bottle of champagne, which eased the shock but, not the thought our evening could have ended very differently on our 5th wedding anniversary. A massive disregard for Health and Safety , in the only appealing part to a stay at YOREBRIGE HOTEL 5 STAR , the spa experience in the Dales . We are not the type of couple not to give a place the chance to redeem itself , the food was of a high standard , the staff were friendly but not as proffessional as you would expect, from the price of the dining experince. To add the cobweds dangling fom all the lights in the dining area were very off putting! We have written for a full refund for the stay ,in hind sight , the payment should never have been made but i truely believe ,we were so stunded ,at how the night had gone we just paided !!

My husband and I stayed for two nights just before Christmas 2012. We were in Caribeo room which is in the grammar school rather than the main house. The room doesn't have a hot tub but does have lovely views of the Dales.

We had a lovely break with a super walk from the hotel. The service was warm and friendly with some personal help before our walk on the details of the walking route. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Breakfasts were generous and tasty. We had a main restaurant dinner one night and something off the cheaper and less extensive bar menu the next - both were superb.

Are there any negatives? Well, our room only had a bath, with no shower which was quite inconvenient in the mornings. I don't think that's the case for other rooms so it's worth picking your room carefully.
