Must be the friendliest caravan park owners in Queensland especially Joe who told me everything about a caravan gave me a driving lesson and fixed a fault with the caravan on a Sunday.
Unfortunately we were there only three nights would have liked to stay for a month at least! Can only recommend to everybody! The place is very clean and comfortable, there is a swimming pool and free BBQ.

The Information centre in Ravenshoe had advised us to head for this place, rather than go all the way to Georgeton on the one day. They said the meals were good and perhaps they raised our expectations a little too high. The cabin we stayed in was clean and well equipped, although over priced. But they didn't do meals the day we were there, which was very disappointing, and had nothing available for us to cook. (We ended up eating at the pub, as the cafe over the road closed very early.) The pool was a welcome relief in the heat. There were some very noisy dogs staying at the camp grounds which interrupted our sleep. Overall, not a highlight. In hindsight we should perhaps have continued to Georgetown as we had intended!

We stayed here some years ago and loved the feel of the place so decided to bring visiting English friends with us this time. We stayed in ensuite cabins which were very comfortable and well equipped. We used the pool and BBQ facilities, both very clean, as well as, one night, having an excellent pizza prepared by the chef and cooked in their pizza oven. All the native trees around the cabins attracted large numbers of birds and butterflies and provided great photo opportunities. Our friends really enjoyed their taste of the Outback and we all loved the peace and quiet. The staff were helpful and made sandwiches for us to take on a day trip. If you are self catering, it's a good idea to buy provisions from a supermarket in a big town before you arrive as the options in Mt Surprise are limited.

A wonderful oasis in the small community of Mt Surprise. All staff were very friendly and the poems and stories around the amenities and rec room made great reading. Camp sites were large with power and water easily accessible. The rows of shrubs between sites added some privacy. The pool and mini golf course gave the kids something to do and we all had a great time.

Our en suite cabin with well equipped kitchenette and lounge was very comfortable and clean. All park facilities were likewise well maintained and very clean. We enjoyed our 2 days at Mt Surprise, exploring the lava tubes and taking in the local scenery. Highly recommend the half day tour of the lava tubes, organised by Bedrock Village. It was a great day out with Steve, our knowledgeable guide, who obviously loves the place! We met some fun characters at Mt Surprise, including the owner of the museum who owns pet pythons. Dinner in his big shed is a treat!
