Joe and Jo's is a great place to stay when you visit this part of the world. We spent two nights in a cabin and were very comfortable. The drive from the Tablelands is surprisingly easy, taking two and a half hours. There is quite alot of work being done on the road, so allow time to be held up if you are on a time schedule. We arrived, had lunch and went on the Savannahlander train journey to Einasleigh. The train runs from Mount Surprise to Einasleigh every Thursday, a journey which takes a little over 2 hours. In Einasleigh you have the opportunity to enjoy a cool drink at the pub, whilst there make a point of having a look at the miniture furniture. The Bedrock Tour Guides meet you when you get off the train and after visiting the pub take you on a tour of the town (all of five minutes!) and to Copperfield Gorge, which is spectacular. After this is a short drive in the mini bus to enjoy billy-tea and home made biscuits down by the creek. The bus journey home takes a while but our tour guide, Les, was lovely and kept us entertained and informed with interesting facts about the area.
The following day, we did the half day lava tubes/volcano tour. We were really hoping Mr. Joe would be our tour guide for this day as his knowledge of the area is second to none, but unfortunately he was away for the day on business. This tour was interesting but very drawn out as the guide we had loved to talk and talk and talk! The lava tubes were fascinating and the kids had fun putting the torches up beside their eyes and searching for the shining eyes of the spiders and bats!
Bedrock Village is an oasis in the 'middle of nowhere'. Jo and Joe have worked really hard to create a setting which is welcoming and spacious. The staff are friendly and hard working. The facilities are clean and easily accessable. There is even a chef who will cook evening meals for a very reasonable price. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bedrock and applaud Jo and Joe for all their hard work. We look forward to visiting again when we have ditched the kids and can return as grey nomads!

Good value, well fitted out unit with kitchen/lounge area separate from bedroom/bathroom. Everything very clean and comfortable. We did the Undara Lava Tube tour from Bedrock and had a great time.
There is not a lot of accommodation in the area, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with Bedrock Park - excellent value - and we enjoyed walking to the local pub for dinner one night and talking with some of the locals.
The weather sure put a 'dampener' on things while we were there, but we thoroughly enjoyed another Queensland outback experience.

We recently stayed overnight in the cabins, quite comfortable and suited for our mini-outback experience.

We booked our Undara Experience and the Savannah Lander trip with Joe. His knowledge, commentry, wit, helpful hints and the morning and afternoon teas were excellent.

It was a tour not for the faint hearted, no boardwalks in the tubes for us, stumble over the rocks was our thing. Thanks Joe

Went up to Bedrock Village for a couple of days over the long weekend. Took the mutt with us and had a ball! The park was nicely laid out with drive through caravan spots, all with gardens in between. The caravan parks all even had grass in them (amazing since it only rains 15 days a year or something). Didnt use the pool, but they have a great big fireplace there that can easily suit lots of people around it with logs to sit on at a nice distance. The camp kitchen is amazing, BBQ's, Games, plenty of Tables and chairs there is even a pizza oven! There is also a min golf course on site, cost to play is a donation to the Royal Flying Doctors.
We took part in one of the tours that they run through nearby Undara (the half day tour), and while we were on it, the staff looked in on the dog who was left behind (national park). If you are in the area, the Lava tubes are great to go take a look, and their tours are well worth the money.
Would definitely stay there again if I was heading that way again.

We were driving to Cairns from Darwin and couldn't quite make it. We stopped in pretty late on New Years day and received a warm welcome. Our dog was welcomed too without any rules or regulations being set out. We camped and our dog was allowed to roam around with us( only around 4 other groups there) he is very well behaved.
I thought Bedrock was a welcome surprise, it was clean and well maintained and the staff friendly and hospitable.
We were only there for one night but felt relaxed and would recommend a longer stay. I would like to try the pizza in the colder months and really check the place out.
Compairing Bedrock to equivalent caravan parks in the NT... This is how it should be done NT!
