Lovely little cottage, ideally located for exploring Hayfield and its surrounding areas. Great price too. Larger than we thought it would be. We would book again the future.
Perfect for what we needed. Clean, warm and tidy. Friendly, helpful owner. Great location, close to centre of village.
Had a great time despite mixed weather. Cottage well equipped, good food in local pubs - we tried both the Royal and the George and were not disappointed at either. Doug's advice to walk to New Mills was great for the conditions and very interesting to explore.
Clean and welcoming cottage with friendly owner. Arrived in snowy weather found warm cottage with log burner. Hayfield has very friendly pubs with good food. Great area for walks and cycling. Comfy beds. Panel boarding a bit dated and some mugs and plats had chips. Other wise great place stay. Thanks Doug
Hayfield is a brilliant place to visit, with so much on the doorstep and even more a short drive away. The pubs and restaurants are great and we enjoyed our time there.
The cottage is in a good location, but is uninspiring inside with very basic, dull decoration and fittings. It could be really lovely with a little thought, but the bedrooms in particular are dreary with random pictures on the walls everywhere.
Downstairs (very steep stairs!) was better. The lovely idea of a map on the kitchen table was of Italy, not local, and the local map was unreadable on a side table. The OS map of the area was tattered and written on.
All the basics in the kitchen were there, although we ate out apart from breakfast.
The beds were reasonably comfortable, but with ghastly covers. Clean, but old. And the bedroom we didn't need to use was stripped to the bare mattress. We used this room to keep our clothes, as there was no room in our bedroom.
We had quite a lot of trouble working out how to get the heating to work. The radiators were only lukewarm and there were no instructions. We did get a quick reply from the owner, but then the heating would not turn off overnight and we had to manually switch it down overnight and up in the morning!
We'll be back to Hayfield, but not Fairy Bank cottage.
This cottage is just like a postcard - it is spaceous and tastefully decorated. The owner is attentive and helpful. The neighbors are are quite lovely too.inside there is everything you could want - including a wine fridge, a coffee maker, doggy / child gates. Outside the rear garden is large and well maintained, perfect for kids/pets and summer evening gatherings. The only caution I have is that the hot water is extremely hit and the owner provides detailed instructions on taking care in the shower. Take their advice, and be careful. Other things you might want to know - towels and linens are provided (and are luxurious), beds are very comfortable and supportive, town is just a few minutes walk away and has pubs, chip shop, chemist, grocery store. Train station is on the other side of town and quite the walk should you want to come that way. Probably a good 45 minutes with luggage.
