Lovely room, warm spacious and comfortable, with cheery service and decent simple food in this cosy pub in the lovely peaks, in Derbyshire. And brilliant value. I paid less than £60 for B and B and dinner, inc a very drinkable beer

Hooray for independent pubs that can do this kind of service so well with such good value.....

Very quiet and peaceful place to stay even though it's a pub with rooms over.
The staff are friendly and helpful and eager to accommodate.
The room is very warm and cosy, the decor is in keeping with the character of the building and it's full of old world charm.
Breakfast is hearty wholesome and served with a smile!
I have stayed here twice and will definitely stay here again.
Tip- due to the steep pitch of the stairs interior stairs I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with mobility issues.
Other than that, a very pleasant stay.

We stayed here for New Years Eve, the staff are very friendly and the room was lovely (room 6). After a very hard day mountain biking we were ready to be fed and watered. The food and drink was excellent.

We would have no hesitation of recommending this accommodation!

Enjoyed our stay at the George, the staff were friendly, the breakfast was great and the pub had good beer and ok food. The rooms are all (bar 1) directly above the bars and although this is not a noisy pub, the people in the bar sounded as though they were in the room! The bed was very comfy although the pillows were hard and the bathroom our room was cramped with no shower attachment in the bath.

Room Tip: Room 6 is on next floor, Dont know what it is like but will be quieter!

this is the second time we have visited the george for lunch. today having a drive through the peak district my wife reminded me of the meal we had in hayfield some months earlier, so we diverted to find the place and give it another visit. we were not disappointed. i had the special, liver and bacon casserole, mash and veg. i have never had a larger portion of casserole anywhere, and not only large, but very very tasty. my wife's rump steak was also excellent and the added bonus is that it is served with all the usual trimmings and fresh vegetables, what a sensible addition. why should steak always be served with only chips mushroom and tomato. also great value for money, really friendly and attentive staff, in a beautiful location. what more could you want.

We had a pleasant 2 or 3 nights here. The room was a little pokey and a bit tired looking in places, but the food was good honest pub food and service was friendly. The location is great - the village is seemingly surrounded by Kinder Scout - and, of course, was the main location for the TV series 'The Village'
