“Great place to stay!”
Reviewed June 10, 2014

Thank you to Marilyn & John for a great nights stay. It was the last night on completion of our Pennine Way walk after 19 days and it was the perfect end. The accomodation and breakfast was excellent & we would really recommend this to others.

Room Tip: We had the Thistle and Poppy rooms which also had a sitting room, kitchen, private access & jacu...

We stopped for 6 nights while we walked St Cuthberts Way which turned out to be a very successful way to cope with transport in the borders. Marilyn was a very good transfer/taxi driver, and her sandwiches were wonderful especially the Brie and Grape and Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese. We wonted to bring John home with us as he looked after us so very well for our early breakfast (which we prefered). The cooked breakfast was super although we decided not to go for them until last morning - calories. The Fresh fruit was always good. Our room was just enough as we hardly were in it except to sleep. We can certainly recommend Marilyn and Johns Lovely farmhouse and their warm welcome. Pat and Janet

My dad and I stayed here on day 2 of our St Cuthbert's Way walk. We arrived slightly later than anticipated as the last 6 miles is over the highest hill of the Way but that wasn't a problem, in fact Marilyn told us she would pick us up along the road if we got too tired! However we managed it, and after a fantastic meal in the Plough we walked the short distance to The Farmhouse. The room was small but perfectly big enough and the bathroom was enormous - big enough for a party as Marilyn said! Lovely to have a hot bath after a long walk. It was also nice to have some books in the room as I hadn't brought any on the walk.

Very comfortable sleep and breakfast the next day was so delicious. I had porridge as well as bacon and egg, and the porridge was served with whisky soaked raisins which were much nicer than I was expecting. Jon served us and he was very chatty and helpful.

The house itself is lovely and full of character with a beautiful garden. Would have liked to have stayed there longer, but the walk had to be done! And we did do it in the 4 days, partly thanks to places like this where we stayed! Thank you!

The room was a bit small but perfectly adequate and comfortable. There was a fully equipped kitchen available if we needed it. Breakfast choice was excellent and times were reasonable. It is ideally located for Kelso (about 7 miles) which is good for the race course and the Jim Clark Rally. We went to the Border Hotel (about 4 minutes walk) for dinner. There was a good choice and the food was good. Happy to go back.

Room Tip: Good location.

We booked the self catering annexe through living social for £80 for 2 nights for 4 people, the annexe was lovely! very warm and comfortable with everything we needed, the kitchen provided everything we needed to cook as well as the added luxury of a dishwasher. The 2 bedrooms were very comfortable and the living space was cosy, We recieved a bottle of wine, luxury toiletries, chocolate and a fruit bowl on arrival which was a very nice gesture. The only downside was the church bells every morning which did wake us all up multiple times, i suppose if you live there you get used to it) there was some lovely secenry around and a nice little pub at the top of the road which served a expensive but nice drink. We went into the town of Kelso a couple of times which was only a 10 minuete drive and had some lovely shops, cafe's and we managed to pick up a lovely takeaway for our last night. I would deffinetly return to the farmhouse in the future and would reccomend to anybody who fancies a relaxing quiet break with lovely surroundings.

Room Tip: self catering annexe is very quiet and cosy.

Having visited friends and family in the Borders, we had arranged a meal nearby and looked for somewhere to rest the night and have a drink instead of driving home overnight.

A little tricky to spot it first time in the dark, just behind the mill and before the Kirk. We were warmly welcomed by Jon and given each choice of rooms. Choosing the room in the annex to come and go freely all was good.

Breakfast was great, and set us up for a great drive through borders and Northumberland. At the end of the day could not grumble about small things as not a hotel and price is great value. Definitely would use again.

Room Tip: Call the place to discuss what you need, Jon could not have been more helpful.

We were walking St Cuthbert's Way and Marilyn & Jon made it so much easier! Left our car with them and got a lift to Melrose and stayed with them after day 3 of walking then they came to pick us up from Holy Island - awesome! Our room was comfy and clean, lovely bathroom with fantastic bath. Deliciously filling breakfast and perfect packed lunch. Nothing was too much trouble.

The Farmhouse at Yetholm Mill is a recently renovated Georgian building, done sympathetically retaining many original features. It is an old listed building so we are unable to change the rooms, they are not huge, but our guests find them cosy, contemporary and comfortable (and we have priced our rooms taking into account their size). We have 3 ensuite rooms and one with a private bathroom. Two are in our annexe which can be taken on a selfcatering basis. We have gained a great reputation for our food. A huge choice for breakfast, and evening meals can be arranged with 24 hours notice. Booked in advance we can also arrange for our beauty therapist to call for treatments ranging from Reiki to pedicures to massages. Walking packages for the individual or groups available.
