“Outstanding Food in a Classic Building”
Reviewed July 29, 2012

It started as a mill back in 1422 and is now a fine restaurant. Local foods are featured when possible on an outstanding menu. Our party of six was happy with every meal served. The server knew her menu and gave good advice.

“Supplies excellent meat!”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

I have eaten at this restaurant on several occasions and I cannot fault the quality of the meat they supply, especially during the game ("wild") season. I cannot say it is faultless - they are not, generally, very good at cooking vegetables (raw butter-beans, raw potatoes) but the rest of the meal, and their excellent cellar, makes up for these small deficiencies.

Unlike other reviewers, I find the staff very knowledgeable and helpful and they can offer English menus (although not English versions of their "specials") and the pace of service reflects the the quality of the meal and the ambiance.

“Good food, but service needs to improve”
Reviewed June 7, 2012

I chose this restaurants based on their online, advertised Asparagus menu. Unfortunately, when we got there no Asparagus was available - they üublished it too early. Further, no English menus were available - very annoying especially if you there with 7 non-German speakers. Only one of the waiters spoke a little English, so it was up to me to translate/order everything.

The food was really good, but I would not go there again with my non-German colleagues.

“Absolutely First Class”
Reviewed November 20, 2011

This is just a great place. Take a taxi for about a twenty minute ride outside of downtown Frankfurt this little gem. It is furnished in the most beautiful way, with incredible detail paid to each little room where dinner is served. There are perhaps five or six little dining rooms in this house, which is decorated to the hilt. Ah, do not forget to go to the bathrooms which are tiled beautifully, stepping into a wonderland of old Germany.
Food was superb, ranging from goose specials to fish and deer. Service attentive, friendly, and welcoming.
This restaurant does everything well. It is truly worth the taxi ride and is a definite special occasion place where you are allowed to laugh and drink and be merry but in a most delectable way.
Total bill for four of us was around 400 Euro, but we had everything from sekt, to after dinner drinks. Not cheap but worth it.

“Great Food”
Reviewed November 2, 2011

high quality German and Italian cuisine in a very nice setting. I recommend the Gravalax with Rosti starter and the Venison with Mushrooms, both were exceptionally tasty.
The restaurant has rooms as well, these are of a good standard, comfortable but with some rather old plumbing.........apart from that a good choice if you are in Dreieich.
