A great place. The place is breath taking beautiful., With surrounding rocks in beautiful colors. The hotel is located so when you are there, seen nothing but countryside.
I have now several times enjoyed staying at the hotel, after a few weeks in Madagascars crowds of people and national parks, it is a relief to get there and experience the tranquility and high luxury. Relax and rehabilitate.

The hotel's elegant architecture and rooms luxury is a pleasure.

The food is really good but relatively expensive!
The service very friendly but with little English knowledge. However, they can always find help that can be English.

It is one of Madagascar's very best hotels and the location is unique

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Rock Lodge en-route from Ranomafana to Tulear on the RN7. After 3 nights already on the road in quite basic accommodation, it was nice to experience a bit of luxury.

The Lodge is set in really dramatic landscape and from the deck of our room (C04) we had a stunning view of a landscape that reminded us of Arizona but if we’d that view in the US (or anywhere else) the price would have been eye wateringly expensive.

Inside our room was just like the pictures on the website with huge bed, air conditioning, spacious bathroom with enormous walk in power shower (a real treat) and stone bath with those stunning views. It was certainly everything you needed to relax after a day hiking in the outdoors.

The lodge has quite a lot of rooms and only a handful were occupied when we were there so the place was pretty quiet. Having said that, most people go out hiking during the day and only really reconvene at the Lodge at dinner time.

I thought the food was really quite good - you got a choice of starter, main and dessert and as I don’t eat meat, I could easily pre-order something the morning before we left for our hikes. The staff were all really friendly and so helpful and I have to make special mention to Jerry who looked after us especially well and had an excellent command of English and so could always help interpret any special food requests.

The lighting in the restaurant really - I guess because they often have groups and not just couples like us - however, the owner of the lodge was there when we were and I did make the suggestion that the lighting could be a bit more subdued to give a bit of atmosphere. Also, the price of the packed lunch was really quite high and on some hikes the guides try and persuade you to take it. Granted it was more a two course lunch with different options rather than sandwiches but, to be honest that’s not what I want after a hike - we just stuck with some fruits and croissants from breakfast!

There are a number of options for accommodation in Isalo and I'd definitely recommend moving up a grade to stay at the Rock Lodge as everything about it is definitely worth the money and after time on the road it's nice for a bit of pampering.

We believe that this hotel would be a stand out anywhere. But finding it after 10 days in Madagascar, it felt like heaven! Georgio the owner and Rodrigue the manager are both enthusiastic and vigilant. They seem to genuinely want every guest to enjoy every day and every meal and every sunset! Our room had an unimpeded view of the rocks as the light changed. The room was large and pleasant with a modern bathroom which is luxury after days of something less.

What more do you want in the middle of a desert?
There's even a swimming pool.
View from the hotel is awesome.
Food is not bad either.
Was told this was fun by a French expat.
Well managed.

Only problem we had was that the internet broke down during our stay. Otherwise, no glitches.

Just be careful if you plan to walk up the rock at the back of the hotel, it's a bit slippery and appropriate footwear is a must.

modern, spacious rooms with stunning rock landscape literally outside the glass doors of your verandah. The toilet with the huge bath tub is so tempting, you cannot resist a bath there, particularly soothing after a full day exploration of the national park. Very memorable stay. The food in the restaurant was good too. One point though: suggest you do not order packed lunch, very expensive!

The striking modern design of the entrance is a signal that this in not your typical Madagascar hotel. It is beautifully designed with light and airy restaurant and lobby. The rooms are spacious, well laid out and very comfortable. The rooms are spread around the lodge and interspersed among the rock formations - very attractive. The service is good as is the food. It is also a short drive from the lodge to the park.
