This was my first experience at La Posada and it well worth the trip. The historic hotel is a joy to behold. There are antiques and historic items everywhere. The owners, Darrin and Cheri made us feel like we had known them for years. The food was awesome. Be sure to try the flan, made freshly daily. The rooms are very well appointed and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and professional. All of the small towns we encountered along the way were also historic and all the folks encountered were friendly. Photo opportunities abound. A trip to the hot springs is a must.

Room Tip: The highway from Hermisillo is 2 lane, in good condition. Signage is very good. As always watch for...

Wow! What a wonderful place. La Posada del Rio is all we expected, and more. It's like living in a museum of world history, but with all the comforts of home. Each room has it's own ambiance, and our bed was super comfortable. The food was fantastic (the flan with chiltepin pepper in it was surprisingly wonderful). And the best thing of all is how comfortable our hosts, Darrin and Cheri, made us feel. They went to great lengths to make sure we enjoyed our time with them. The village of Banamichi is clean and quiet, with a beautiful church and nice central park. Not far away is an area of hot springs, with pools of various temperatures. This was a great experience, and no question, we WILL go back.

We've been going down to the hot springs for the last 11 years and the last few trips we've opted to stay at La Posada versus camping. The hotel is beautiful, comfortable, clean, and the food is above par. The thing that makes it the perfect destination are owners Darrin & Cheri. They made us feel like old friends, shared so many aspects of the local flavor of Banamichi and the river valley. This year we went as "touristas" and left as friends. A definite repeat destination for us!

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful and each unique in its own way.

The Posada reflects the hospitality, color, warmth, and comfort that we who love Mexico so appreciate in a first-rate establishment. The gracious owners have created a beautiful getaway with superlative food and help in this magical valley of the Rio Sonora and the peace, birdsong, church bells and ambiente of the town of Banamichi are unequaled!

Ive been going to Banamichi for the past 3 years now, next year will be my fourth time staying at La Posada. Every experience is truly rewarding, the staff are courteous, friendly and respectful. The food and service is great and the rooms are always clean. The atmosphere is also rewarding, all the towns people are polite and friendly as well. The time in which i go , has a bike event going on.......so i get to see all my friends and of course I get to see the staff again at La posada. Anyone whose has never been there or has thought about going should, it would be worth your time and effort !!!!!!!

This is my home away from home when traveling to Mexico. The atmosphere is laid back and homey but has every modern convenience available. The internet service is quick, rooms very comfortable and clean. The food and drink is excellent and made to order--the flan is the best!

La Posada del Rio Sonora is one of Mexico's hidden treasures. A beautiful drive south of Bisbee along the Rio Sonora River Valley this quaint family inn is a perfect spot to get away from the hectic city life. Take a dip in the nearby springs, tour the neighboring villages and churches or just relax on the rooftop hammock and catch up on your reading. The innkeepers Darrin and Cherie will make sure you have everything you need to unwind. The brightly colored walls and tropical plants and the best Sonoran cooking around makes any visit there a true treat. Kat B
