“Fantastic place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

I have been a regular visitor to Tokyo from 2005 onwards and stayed in this hotel many times. It is very conveniently located. Very near to train station and shopping complexes. Service is good and staff is friendly.

Although probably not the best location to visit the whole Tokyo area, the hotel is close to Tachikawa station on the Chuo Line, which allows frequent and efficient transfer to tokyo downtown. Nice rooms, efficient personnel, a wonderful bar.

In a few words this a very good address:
-everyone speaks English
-prices are really low
-connected to both airport by bus. 1 hour, 2000 to 3500YEN
-perfect location with the central train station across the street, busses and monorail all around
-really quiet
-in hub of shopping malls and shopping. Try the "Bic camera" shop and you will see what electronics means in Japan.
-agreeable rooms yet a bit dated. Could use a refresh.
-convenient bar and restaurants for evenings. Alternatives are legions on the outside, in the shopping village.
-light speed Internet connection

One con, the tackyness of the premises designed for weddings and big groups in convention.
Probably not the best business centre, but certainly not far from it.
I will return there if I was in this area again

Practical hotel on the other side of Tokyo. Hotel is suitable for business conferences because it provides all facilities you need. In spite the hotel breathes a Wedding atmosphere everywere, the normal guest is also serviced very well. Few restaurants and bars in the hotel provides good Japanese food. Hotel rooms are smaller than you might expect, but are good with all modern facilities.
Came by taxi from Narita airport, which is not recommendable. 3 hrs drive due to traffic. The airport shuttle is the same, but the train is perfect. Hotel just a few minutes away from the trainstation, which also gives you a good possibility to travel to Shinjuku station/area.
The hotel is located very close to a shopping mall, with again good restaurants. On the otherside of the hotel is a very beautiful Showa Kinen Park.

This is my second time staying at Palace Hotel Tachikawa. The location is really convenient. Big malls like Takashimaya, Isetan and the JR Station are within short walking distances as well as many smaller shops and eating places. The room although small (but I guess standard Japanese hotel size) is nice and clean, especially the bath room. Counter staff at the reception when I checked in and out were not really friendly or helpful but just went about getting their jobs done, although the concierge and bell boy did make a big difference. The airport shuttle stops directly in front of this hotel so it is again really convenient. For the convenience of the location I will stay here again if I come back to Tachikawa.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor rooms. I was given a room on level 6 and just outside my room is a garden and I...

The hotel is located in convenient place. From Haneda can take direct Keikyu Bus. Easy to access airport too.
Most of Japan popular bank located very near. Walking distance. Citibank also located walking distance.
Convenience Store also located in walking distance. Not only Convenience store and banks, but also Electronics discount store and cinema located in walking distance.

The Front good manner and services. Quick response.

The package include the breakfast which is buffet style.

Would like to stay again next time.

Getting here - On arrival at Haneda airport (Tokyo Intl. Airport), collect bags and head out. Limousine bus tickets counter near Exit 4. There’s another counter further down as well. Bus goes via Tachikawa station to Palace Hotel. Journey is about 90mins and costs Yen 1500. Bus stop is at exit 14 and leaves every hour. There’s also a ticket machine near the bus stop. Wait in line at the stop. I was the second person at the queue so I waited at the sign on the floor that said 2 but noticed attendant was getting every one lining up behind the first person. When bus arrived, she took all their bags except mine. I soon realised that from being second in line, I was the last person. The number 2 I was queuing at was for the next bus to another location. Bus takes you directly and stops in front of Palace Hotel Tachikawa, after the Tachikawa station (which is only another 5 mins).

Hotel - on arrival from airport bus, staff comes up to help with bags – they are on the lookout! Lobby is very swish. Rooms start from 7-12th floors. Old stained carpets in hallway. Great and convenient location - 5 mins walk from train/bus terminal. 2nd floor side entrance access walkway connecting to shops and restaurants. There’s also a back entrance on ground floor that takes you to area where heaps of bikes are parked and monorail above. You don’t need a map but you can ask at reception. Just turn right out of front lobby entrance and walk straight ahead and up the stairs onto walkway to get across the road or out through lobby back entrance. If you get off on 2nd floor, turn right and this connects you right away. No pool or spa/onsen, only beauty salon in 5th floor. Staff very accommodating and speak average English. Quite a few foreign business guests. Arrived 16th March and cherry blossoms just peeping through (these are the white or whitish/pink ones with dark stems and bark, the other white and red ones are Ume that comes out before Sakura).

Vicinity – Takashimaya seems to close early (8pm), the other shops close about 10pm. Lumine is great with lots of individual shops. On 7th floor, UniGlo is wonderful with great bargains. On the ground level across the road from Takashimaya, there is a ramen and gyoza shop that is very cheap – Yen 800 got me 6 gyozas, a small bowl of fried rice and a big bowl of ramen soup with pork slices. Another place also across the street from Taka I got a bowl of rice with sashimi plus miso for Yen 890. Next door is a tempura place, a set of tempura on rice and miso soup for Yen 650. Excellent value.

Room - old style with key and door handle sign for “Do not disturb and make up room” but room is clean with different carpets as in the hallway. No safe deposit box in room. Empty fridge. Very small bathroom but decent. Lots of sockets at desk, even one with international socket. No coffee or English tea (so milk or sugar either), only green or roasted tea bags. Room a little smaller than most standard hotels but still fine. No iron and ironing board. Robes in drawers and disposable slippers in wardrobe. Full length mirror. Free cable or wireless internet. Nice and bright room but only 2 pillows with no spares in wardrobe – one flat and the other even flatter (seems like there’s wheat in one of them) but bed is comfortable.

Bathroom - Toilet with buttons to play with – shower your back or front private parts. Control the button for front or back as well as for the pressure. Nice warm water spray. Every time you sit on the seat, the “flush” comes on for a little while to camouflage the sound of you urinating. So discreet. Anti-fog mirror in bathroom, excellent sensitive taps, water pressure and hot water system. Body soap, shampoo and conditioner by Shiseido, razor and toothbrush/paste. Old style hairdryer with press down button – so annoying as you have to keep finger on it whilst styling or drying hair.

Breakfast - on ground floor (1st floor). Both western and Japanese buffet. Not great. No cooking station. Only tomato juice from jug, other “juices” from machine. Coffee from machine – café latte very flat and watered down, just like instant coffee – horrible – not latte at all. “American” (supposed it is Americano, just the same – very weak). Had the cappuccino – though it had some froth, the coffee is still very weak – no topping though. Took English tea bag, sugar and milk for the room.

JR train from Tachikawa to Tokyo central Shinjuku station - about 30 mins ride costs Yen 450. Taxi from Tachikawa to Kokobunji about 20-30 mins depending on traffic (approx. Yen 2,700-3,000).
