The Mets is a great place for Japanese style business travel. Impeccably clean, and it’s in a tremendous location. I write this after my second stay. What makes the Mets location excellent is that it sits in and on top of the Tachikawa station. You do not have to exit the air conditioning of the station to enter the hotel. In Tokyo summers, every footstep is assessed and accounted for. The single bed room is the size of a standard outside cruise ship cabin; similarly sized bathroom with the infamous Toto toilet. There are no ice buckets you will have to use 10oz plastic ice cups next to the ice machine to fill the electric teapot from your room. Towels are small, if you’re taller than 5’10” OR 2-hundred pounds, ask for a two towels. Housekeeping is happy to oblige. Use the breakfast coupons for the bakery and not the restaurant- that is unless you like hard boiled eggs and rice for breakfast. Toiletries are in refillable pump bottles kept sparkling clean and functional. Razor, toothbrush, polishing cloth, slippers, happy coat, and pants press are included. Desk staff speaks limited English but are politely determined to get the job done.
