We had travelling around Europe for our honeymoon and were spending our last night in the Loire Valley so decided to book something special to go out with a bang. Art Hotel definitely fit the bill - it had only just opened so I believe we were the first people to stay in the room, which was stunning, comfortable and really feels like something above and beyond the norm. The juxtaposition between the Loire Valley Chateau exterior and the ultra-modern black and white art deco exterior is great, the public areas are beautiful, and the staff couldn't do enough for us. They also recommended a fairly new restaurant nearby that was based in one of the old wine cellars which was equally wonderful. Stay here, you won't regret it!

Room Tip: Stay in the main house if you can, the stables don't have the same ambience

After having a very bad experience inquiring on a neighboring hotel down the road, my wife and I found ourselves at Art Hotel, which only opened in the past few months. The modern, stylish refurbishment of this grand old building looks great, and it appears the owner went all-in on top designer furnishings and art.

The woman and the front desk is an asset to this hotel. She showed us the two rooms the were available and entertained the idea of making us an offer on the more expensive room. In the end, we found a great deal online for the cheaper room of 99 euro. For the quality of the establishment, this was an excellent price. She also helped recommend a couple of good restaurants in Tours.

We arrived a bit late to this hotel on our way up to Brussels, but their terrace overlooking the Loire was tempting enough that we lingered for a cocktail and watched the beginning of the sunset. The drinks were good and the service quick.

My husband and I stayed at Art Hotel for three days in a Superior room in the main house. We found the staff quite professional, hospitable and friendly. Although there seemed to be only a few staff on site at any given time, they gave recommendations and helped us make reservations for restaurants, day tours, and arrangements for transportation.

Our room was quite comfortable and pleasingly decorated. Personally, I found the black-and-white motif interesting and pleasing. Both my husband and I found the bed comfortable and had the right amount of bedding. The bathroom was large and had clean lines - a square vanity and sink and a glass-walled shower next to a rounded wall decorated by a bank of mirrors.

We ate breakfast one morning at the hotel's restaurant. Initially, we thought 19 euros per person for a typical French breakfast was expensive. But the offerings were substantial and of high quality. There was fruit, yogurt, juices and coffee, cereal, cheese, an assortment of breads and pastries, hard boiled eggs and cured meats. Neither of us left the table hungry.

The common areas on the main floor of the house were beautifully decorated. Sitting on the terrace on the front of the house provides a stunning view of the Loir river. The house is directly across the street from LuLu Parc, a small amusement park with a restaurant. Although we didn't visit LuLu Parc during our stay, it appears to be a fun place to entertain children.

In sum, we had an excellent stay at the Art Hotel. My only complaint (very minor) was that the toilet broke during the first evening of our stay, but the hotel manager quickly provided us with a comparable room. My husband and I get just one week's vacation alone together each year, and the staff at the Art Hotel made our stay very special.

Room Tip: The main house had large rooms and was quiet.

For a change - i'll start with the things which require improvements. first, some of the rooms are not in the (charming) main building but in the renovated stables (?) outside. Also, we shared our room with a few ants (but they didn't disturb our sleep).
Apart from this, the hotel is really great, and the rooms are well equipped with all kinds of funky stuff (such as an RC which lets you control the color of the lighting in the room).

Room Tip: If you can, ask for the rooms in the main building. It really looks like a Loire valley chateau

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A chateau on the banks of the Loire had fallen into oblivion. A jewel dating back to the end of the 19th century, the property of Madame Tonnelle, the wife of General Becker. This serene residence found a new vocation in the 20th century with its conversion into a retirement home. That was until its most recent transformation into an upscale Touraine hotel skilfully pairing the most classical architecture with the most contemporary shapes and colours. Design art and Black & White art adorn the walls of the hundred-year-old Chateau and its pavilions. A lounge bar and reception rooms likewise convey the feeling of pomp and an authentically period lifestyle. ... more   less
