My husband refers to our visit to the Chateau Gaudrelle winery as the highlight of his trip to France! They make sparkling white and various still whites from the Chenin Blanc grape only. A very friendly young man met us at the car and proceeded to take us through a wonderful tasting session. He is also a rugby player, and had spent time in New Zealand and touring through Australia playing rugby, so his English was brilliant. We had such a wonderful time chatting with him and trying his thoroughly delicious wines. The variety of flavours from the same grape were amazing, just differing according to location where they were grown, type of soil and treatment during the wine making process. He had a sign up that delivery was available to the USA, so we were hoping that would also be an option for us, but unfortunately he’s still trying to find a distributor in Australia. Our luggage restrictions meant we could only buy 2 bottles, but boy we wish it could have been more, it was wonderful. He also gave us a quick impromptu tour through the cellars which we really enjoyed.

As a couple who has owned a small vineyard and winery we found the time spent at the Ch. Gaudrelle most enjoyable and informative. The owner/winemaker, who is a most charismatic gentleman and who speaks excellent English, was extremely generous with his time and knowledge. We had the opportunity to taste the range of Chenin Blanc wines produced and they are of exceptional quality, a reflection of the near-perfect terroir and the winemaker's obvious passion. We have visited very many wineries over the years and this visit stands out as a highlight. A must for wine lovers visiting the Loire.

They were so nice!! They gave us a tour, lots of information, they tought us all kinds of thing on wine making, wine tasting. There is just so much to say about everything they tought us, but I will sum it up and say this is the place to go, not to mention that their wine is excellent. I bought a case of it. Beautiful place, great people and great wine. This is a must!

Great tour with the owner, who spoke fabulous English and was incredibly friendly. Also enjoyed a tasting and purchased some bottles to take home. Thought the tour and tasting was great - so informative and no pressure to buy (which we did regardless, because it was amazing!). A big thumbs up for a close winery to Tours and a great chance of pace from castles. For those not driving in the area, it is easily accessible via a 10 minute bus ride (routes 60 and 61, costing 1.40€) from the city centre. It's also a leisurely 45 minute stroll along the river and would make a great bike ride!
