“Good to see the BBMF up close again”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2014

We visited on a Monday during the Easter holidays. Overall, we had a really good visit. The visitor centre covers much of the information needed to understand why the BBMF is so important. If I'm being picky, it needs a bit of an update (Lincs CC take note), but the staff were excellent, and the café is reasonably priced. The tour round the hangar is, of course, the centre piece of the visit, and our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and interesting. I've been lucky enough to see the BBMF many times, but haven't been up close for about 10 years, and it was a real pleasure to see the Flight again. Our children (girls) were also interested, which is no mean feat!

“You Must See This”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2014

This is a must go and see if you are anywhere near Coningsby, if you are an aviation enthusiast and or like WW2. This was the last part of a weekend tour of Lincolnshire, but was the icing on the cake with a tour that lasted close to 2 hours from a very knowledgeable guide. The stories and histories about the Lancaster Bomber and the Dakota paratroop were wonderful, as was the histories of the Hurricanes and Spitfires in the hangar. We even had the added thrill of seeing a new Typhoon going through its air display routine whilst we were there. This is a great place to visit. Highly recommended.

“Two + 1 dog go to Lincolnshire- Battle of Britain Memorial Flight”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2014

Well really only one went on the tour, but two had a very nice pot of tea & sandwiches afterwards.
Arriving just in time for the first tour we headed out to the hangar, at this time the flying season is just gearing up & 3 Spits & the Dakota were on the apron being made flight ready but we could still see them & the guide gave us a very detailed talk on those that were present.
Once inside we were regaled with information on 2 Spits & a Hurricane that were inside & last but not least Thumper the last Lancaster flying in Europe, soon to be momentously joined for a short time by the only other flying Lanc from Canada.
The guide we had knew answers to all our questions as much from love of the job as learning of it as manifested by the 90 minute tour length.
A must visit for all interested in planes of the era,but do check beforehand which planes are likely to be in the hangar, so go check on good old Google first.

“Fascinating Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2014

As the flying season hadn't started we were able to see all the aircraft apart from one out for a major refit. A fascinating experience to see close at hand the aircraft that played such a major part in WWII and compare the sizes of the Lancaster against the Spitfire. It helped us understand what the young men went through, helped by the commentary of our guide who had flown the aircraft. It was put into context by the modern planes landing and taking off during our visit from RAF Coningsby
