Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: A partnership between the Royal Air Force and Lincolnshire County Council provides public access to the home of the RAF Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby. The RAF BBMF hangar is located within the boundaries of RAF Coningsby and viewing the flight’s historic aircraft at close quarters is available only by guided tour. You will be shown around the hangar by volunteer guides, many of whom have first hand experience of the aircraft. They give freely of their time, being keen to ensure the public appreciate this living tribute to all RAF aircrew and ground crew who gave their lives in the Second World War .

Some of the last remaining WW2 aircraft still flying including a Avro Lancaster, Hawker Hurricane, Douglas Dakota and several variants of Spitfire (one of which actually flew in the Battle of Britain). Lots of technical info for the enthusiast

The Museum itself is free to enter and browse the shop. For a reasonable fee you can take a Guided Tour of the BBMF Hanger, where you will be informed and shown every aspect of the BBMF's collection. Luckily the day I was there, all the aircraft were on site. The detail and anecdotes of the guide was exceptional. As a side issue you can look through the4 perimeter fence and watch Typhoons being worked on, taxiing onto the runway. Not so many years ago you would have been unable to do this, being against the Official Secrets Act.

It was good, well relaxed, a nice place to go and interesting.... however, four pounds entry wasnt worth the money.
