The bedroom and bathroom were clean. As indicated by the photos on their website the bedroom furnishings are an odd mix of styles from the 1950’s, 1970’s and a nod to this century. Bedroom 107 is big; the bed however comprised a foam mattress which was hot (July 2018 when it was 31 degrees during the day and still warm at night) - a sprung mattress may have absorbed / removed the heat better. The original cast iron fireplace in the bedroom is a delight but the other décor diminishes it dramatically. The hot tap over the bath was a struggle to turn off – a problem that must have existed for many days if not weeks. The hot water was far too hot such that there was a high probability of scolding; that would have been a serious worry if I’d had children with me.

The pots of flowers by the entrance to the Inn were a delight and the children’s play area at the back looks to be excellent; the remaining area at the back of the hotel had plenty of seating and some tables but was otherwise devoid of character. At the back of the hotel is what appears to be a farm building / warehouse and nothing has been done to disguise the fact – in addition the wall of the warehouse (in the garden of the hotel) is a dumping ground for rubble that should have been put in a skip long ago.

Dinner was OK and reasonably priced – the cheese I ordered was poorly presented but tasted good. At £72 room only The Leagate Inn is average value. In my view it’s time the bedroom, bathroom, corridors etc. had a major refurbishment. I appreciate locations that have character and the bar / restaurant areas do have character.

The bedrooms have single glazing so you may hear traffic on the quite busy road.

A one night stay following a family party. We had been told that the only room available was the family room at £114 rather than the £72 room we requested. We arrived at 9PM and taken to the large room with a double bed, two single beds and a cot.

We quickly discovered that the taps over the bath didn’t work. The manageress arrived to inspect the problem and went off to see if there was an alternative room.

Her husband then arrived with a spanner and claimed to have repaired the problem but he was quite uncommunicative.

Eventually we ran the hot water but the cold water tap still did not work. We managed to cool the water by using the overhead shower.

Eventually we went to the bar for a well deserved drink at 10PM. We informed Sharron the manageress that the tap still wasn’t working and expressed our disappointment. She offered to give us another room but I felt too exhausted to go through this. She offered to move us herself which I refused.

She then told us her husband had been back to our room, without informing us of this, and the problem was now solved.

We were offered a complimentary drink but by this time it was 10-15 and the remaining bar staff was switching off the lights! We felt under pressure to take our drinks to our room. We had to walk along an unlit corridor to get to our room.

After being told when trying to book a room that the place was full other than the expensive family room, we were surprised at breakfast to find only three tables set.

The breakfast room was dirty and the mess from the previous night still littered the carpet.

I informed the manageress that the price the room was totally unjustified. There were no bedside tables, no hooks in the bathroom for towels, over sink light did not work. A tired and basic room.

I would not recommend this accommodation but I believe their meals are good.

Tea / coffee / kettle in room large TV and the beds were quite comfortable . The breakfast was real good and a great choice Evening meals were superb fair sized portions too there is also a gluten free choice,, staff were friendly and helpful .. bar prices were reasonable and you can taste the beer before you buy . I’d have no problem staying here again

Visited for the first time last night. The room was booked for us by a third party so didn't know what to expect. The place is lovely and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Due to a road closure we were running VERY late. This wasnt a problem and happy to wait up until we arrived. We arrived after 11pm and were shown to a very clean room with comfortable beds. We slept solidly and after a good hot shower went for breakfast. This didn't dissapoint either. Wonderful hot fresh food for breakfast and good size portions. We will definately be going back!!!!
