My husband and I treat ourselves to lunch here at least 3 or 4 times a month .... and we love it.
The pub is oozing character, with its log fire and gorgeous old furniture and low ceilings. The staff are fantastic, polite, chatty, smart and extremely helpful. The food is fantastic, we have never ever been disappointed. They do an amazing prawn open sandwich with salad and rustic chips which is a meal in its self and the vegetarian mushroom and red pepper stroganoff is to die for! The food is always fresh, sourced locally and cooked to perfection. Going to sample their Wednesday night "Steak Night" in 2 weeks ... can't wait! and hopefully getting the family together so we can sample the suckling pig banquet ..... All in all 10 out of 10!
PS. My husband adores the Wells Bombardier.

When we arrived the bed had a centipede in it, we told the landlady she moved us into a different room and then said if she cleaned the centipede maybe nobody else would know. Our room is on the ground floor… Very old building you could hear every footstep, every breath, every turn in the bed, every toilet flush in the room above. Horrendous! Told the landlady at breakfast, she looked at me and asked if I wanted to eat! I will never stay here again!!

Room Tip: Go anywhere else....

Visited the leagate inn to sample there new banqueting menu! On arrival we were greeted with a roaring log fire and a very friendly barmaid. After being seated our party of 8 awaited the arrival of our roasted suckling pig! It was certainly a banquet!! Accompanied by fresh roasted vegetables and homemade stuffing. Once again the leagate exceeded expectations!

Had lunch at this beautiful pub on Tuesday with my family. We were the only 6 people in for lunch at the time but the roaring fire was banked up and we had a very warm and friendly greeting. We had travelled from Devon so were looking forward to lunch. In the main the food was wonderful, with one exception, the vegetarian Aubergine and Courgette Moussaka. The vegetarian choices were a bit disappointing anyway in view of the extensive menu for the carnivores amongst us. We mentioned it was a little soggy and lacked any tomato herby sauce, (commonly found in moussaka) and were told that was "how chef always made it." We didn't make a fuss as all in all everyone agreed that the rest of the food, and service, was top class. The gorgeous battered haddock and chips (my sister gave me some of hers, as it was huge, and to replace the moussaka) was outstanding. Would thoroughly recommend (with the proviso that the veggie option was more in line with the rest of the menu)

Thankyou so much for taking the time to review us we really appreciate your input and hope to see you again soon im sorry the vegetarian dish wasnt up to scratch as we do take as much time with these as we do any other dish the vegetarian moussaka we make we dont like to use to much tomato sauce as it can cause it to become very mushy but i have passed on your suggestions and i hope you return to try another vegetarian dish we do here.

I have stayed here on business six times in the past 12 months and it is a fantastic place to stay and eat. Not sure how many rooms are in the hotel, at least 12 I believe.
The rooms are big and comfortable and the staff are second to none. The bar is always busy and vibrant and the food excellent. Breakfast is fantastic, cooked to order by a great Polish chef. The steak night promotion they hold midweek is not to be missed unless you're looking after your waistline!
This old pub is truly worth the visit and stay if you can get there. Book early to avoid disappointment. You won't regret it.

Room Tip: Just book a room - doesn't matter which one you get, they're all great and one has a Jacuzzi...

I have just stayed at the Leagate for the past 2 weeks. Large room, on suite, 4 poster bed, furnished in dark wood & regal styling, nice and warm on a cold night. As everybody here says, the food was its biggest asset. The Pub is hundreds of years old, log fire etc. It is exactly 3.5 minutes away from RAF Coningsby, Breakfast starts around 7:30 these are as good as the evening meals. The main pub area is very busy with diners in the evening but down a cute stone corridor there is a quieter room with a TV, which is also used in the morning for breakfast. On clear nights there is RAF jet noise in the area but this seems to stop after late teatime. Very very quiet at night. Lovely little hotel. My only criticism is if you want an early start they struggle to have people around, but its no problem if you tell the owners the day before. Thanks

(Reviewing the pub rather than the hotel):

I've always enjoyed the atmosphere and food at the Leagate and have been for meals there twice in the last week.

The first meal was from the specials board and was absolutely delicious and well presented. The second time was on steak night and the fillet steak was perfect (I'm particularly fussy about my steaks). The quality of the food, the cooking, flavour and presentation can't be faulted.

The staff are friendly and helpful and there is a good feel about the place. The fires are particularly welcoming as the weather gets colder too.

I will keep going back and would happily recommend it!
