“Excellent Hotel and wonderful staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

This is the fifth time that we have stayed at Raheen Woods and i would say it gets better every time. The staff are wonderful from reception, through to the workers behind the scenes. We stayed there for 6 nights and we had a room with interconnecting doors, for us and our teenagers and my parent were in a room a couple of doors down. The rooms were lovely and clean and they had housekeeping in them everyday. We ate in the bar every night and never had one bad meal and the service was top class, especially young Niamh our waitress, and the bar staff were also very attentive at all times. The breakfast was always beautiful cooked and nothing was too much trouble from extra pots of teas, to my poached eggs every morning.
We celebrated my sons 21st birthday and had a party in the Snug part of the bar for about 20 members of our family and the evening was fantastic, the service were received was wonderful and the food beautifully cooked and piping hot and plentiful too. Thanks Lester too for the bottles on wine donated, it was very kind gesture to us and made us feel important. I cannot rate this hotel enough, and we love returning. Lester and Marjella you are two wonderful people and can you please pass on our good wishes and thanks to all the staff there as you made our holiday a wonderful time and my parents really enjoyed it too. Hope to be back soon.

My husband, daughter and I stayed in the raheen woods hotel, it was very clean and comfortable and the staff extremely polite and helpful, we were on a Supervalu break which is fantastic value for money. On our second night there our son who was playing soccer in Galway for the week ended up being quite ill and I wanted to keep him in the hotel with us, having explained this at reception they sent a folding bed to our room straight away and never charged us any extra for him to stay there aren't many places that would do that and I was extremely grateful for it. We ate there both nights and the food was excellent, we wanted to settle our bill the night before as we were leaving before breakfast and we were told to help ourselves to pastries from the restaurant in the morning and we were given takeaway coffees also. I would certainly recommend this hotel to both couples and families and do hope to return to it sometime.

I stayed here 3 weeks ago on a Sunday evening with my partner & child. On arrival I was very impressed with the decor and the friendliness of the staff. Our room had a double bed & a single bed and was very roomy and very nice. We did not eat dinner in the hotel but we did have breakfast and it was lovely. We had 2 drinks in the bar the evening we arrived and as it was a lovely evening we sat outside, it was pretty busy and very child friendly and the bar food looked lovely. On Monday morning we visited the leisure center before breakfast and it was really nice and gave us a great appetite for breakfast, towels & swimming caps were provided which was brilliant. There is also a kids play center, we did not use this as we didn't have time but will do the next time. Okay it is 15 mins drive from Galway city but I would definitely revisit as it was perfect for what we wanted.

I had not visited Athenry in many years and my only disappointment is that I was unable to sample the food due to time pressures. The hotel is well situated, spotlessly clean and blessed with a receptionist who is a "real" people person. The room was very well appointed with a very comfortable bed and a balcony one could walk out to enjoy the fresh morning air. Access to the hotel is difficult due to lack of quality signage in the town but from the Tuam road access is simple and straightforward. Hopefully I will have reason to visit once again.

Just returning from a lovely relaxing break at raheen woods. Can't praise the staff at this hotel enough there is a lovely atmosphere and every member of staff we came in contact with from reception, bar, leisure centre, housekeeping, breakfast couldn't have been anymore genuinely friendly not anyway forced. We had small children and they were never bored between the pool, Kardio kidzs and nearby salthill. I would highly recommend this hotel for families of small children.

I am generally an easily pleasing person, but Raheen Woods Hotel didn't give me the satisfaction like other hotels/b&b's I have stayed in. The price for two people for one night was 129euro, which in my opinion, with competition from other hotels in the general Galway area was very steep in price. The room in which we stayed was comfortable and clean, reception and bar staff excellent. The downfall was the breakfast in the morning - no yogurts or croissants... breakfast staff barely spoke...breakfast was running very low and it wasn't reimbursed and we only went down to breakfast at 9.30am in the morning...I had to ask a waitress for butter to butter my toast as they was none available....Just little things let down this hotel. There is so much potential to this hotel with its proximity to Galway city, but more people may visit this hotel if price was lowered and the breakfast staff and area was improved.

Dear theacres,

We appreciate your feedback following your recent visit to Raheen Woods Hotel but in our defense I'd like to point out that a rate of €129 B&B for a double in the high season is a very competitive rate for the greater Galway area as after Dublin, Galway City & County would rank as one of the most desirable places to visit in Ireland. In regards to breakfast, we apologize that there were no yoghurts or croissants at that time however it is our belief that the majority of house guests had already had breakfast that morning. In saying that however, yoghurts and croissants would have been made available for you to enjoy but I'm not sure if you asked one of the waiting staff? On behalf of the hotel, I apologize for the non-availability of these items at breakfast.

Sincerely yours,

Brian Bourke

Dear mary k,

Thank you for your recent review of Raheen Woods Hotel and also for complimenting the food & beverage operation here. It is unfortunate that your friend got lost and we have taken note of this and will check our signage on all points of entry into Athenry....which are many I might add.

Thanks again and hope we can welcome you back in the not too distant future.
