Owner description: Wyndham Estate™ is the historically important site where early pioneer George Wyndham planted Australia’s first commercial Shiraz vineyard in 1830. Wyndham Estate is an award-winning tourism destination which attracts more than 40,000 visitors annually, and after taking out the award for 'Best Tourism Winery' in NSW for the last 3 years, we are now in the NSW tourism Hall of Fame! We have also now won best tourism winery in Australia, twice in the last 3 years! The expansive property sits peacefully on the banks of the Hunter River surrounded by undulating vineyards, green pastures and quiet countryside. There is a heritage trail which shows off the main points on the property including Dalwood house which was built in the early 1800's, the family graveyard where George Wyndham himself is buried, our 'fish hotels' and is a great way to spend half a day. The main building on the Estate, captured in the Wyndham Estate logo, was erected in 1904 from local sandstone which was hand-cut by convicts and bears lovely red cedar timber ceilings which add to its rustic elegance. Visitors can enjoy a range of experiences including: Wine tasting daily at the Wyndham Estate Cellar Door which comprises a full selection of favourites such as the BIN range and George Wyndham wines as well as single vineyard Hunter Valley wines for the connoisseur; A fantastic, free wine club which gives people exclusive access to some rare and older wines not available to the general public.

“Chocolate and Wine Tasting”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

This is the second time we have attended this attraction in the Hunter. We brought new visitors this time and they equally enjoyed themselves.

It is amazing the difference to wine and port, that adding various chocolates can have.

It was a bit disappointing to find that the local Hunter Valley chocolates had been replaced by imported US (Brix) chocolates, but the effect was similar. We of course still visited HV Chocolates and added to our "stocks". At $15 per head it is and interesting and economical way to enjoy wine tasting

“Beautiful location and delicious meal”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

A little bit tricky to find, but well worth the effort. The grounds are beautiful and sitting outside at the estate restaurant, you can feel like you've reached heaven. The staff were all extremely friendly and our meal was delicious - lot's of beautiful tastes to try, wonderful wines, excellent high quality ingredients. The highlight of my trip.

“A truly lovely Hunter Valley experience”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

We had a wonderful visit to Wyndham Estate where we were really looked after beautifully by Michele at the Cellar Door. The estate is a little bit of a drive out of the main Pokolbin area but I think well worth the effort. The serene environment and lovely cellar door interior really had the feeling of old world charm and every question we had was welcome with enthusiasm. As a tour guide I always need to find experiences that go beyond my expectations...and this did. Thanks so much and look foward to seeing you with more guests this year.

“Best of Hunter Valley”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

What an amazing experience! I was visiting Hunter Valley for the first time with a friend, and we were treated with lush green surroundings, pleasant company, and of course delectable wine. Couldn't really ask for more in terms of the overall wine tasting experience. Not sure if they have a restaurant to combine meals with the wonderful shiraz, but that would definitely seal the deal further. I would definitely love to come back to Hunter Valley again just for Wyndham Estate!
