Great museum with creative displays. Especially liked the section with knitted landscape. BUT we have very little knowledge of German, so some of the exhibits were wasted on us.

The above title says it all after a bus ride to get to the slopes from Ischgl. In a whiteout when we should not have skied but when you have a made one mistake you just keep going.

The Alpinarium was built after the avalanche in 1999, The building is incorporated into a large avalanche protection wall. The building contains a climbing wall, cafe and exhibition area.

We went to the exhibition on a cold wet afternoon. There is a fee but we got a reduction with our Silvretta passes. The exhibition comprises a large wooden tunnel which you walk along and then turn into display areas. There is inforamtion about the area, the avalanche and the mountains. Some of the display is traditional whilst parts are quite contempory. Although its still interesting to visit if you do not understand German a good understanding would enhance your visit.

If you are staying in Galtur it is certainly worth a visit.
