We were blown away by the amazing frescos in the Basilica and by this great little place close by. None of your tourist trap food here; lots of interesting local, seasonal dishes very well executed with skill and intelligence such as wild fennel omlette, saffron prawn risotto and fillet of local pork in vin cotto. There are big, exciting salads available as well as a gluten-free menu. Grown ups can enjoy grown up food while the kids can tuck into delicious pizzas- even at lunchtime. There's a good local wine list and big beer selection. A charming restaurant with beams and terracotta floors: very good value all round. Closed Tuesday
