This is our second stay at this vineyard, and we again enjoyed the wonderful setting with a patio overlooking the vines. This is a family run business from the chef offering wonderful fare to the winemaker, taster and grower. The wine is very good and we left with 12bottles, at cost price!
The beds are comfortable, the house clean, quiet and relaxing. A good place to get away from it all.

This German style guesthouse is in the middle of acres of vineyards and orchards. Very enjoyable to sit on the patio a few feet from the vines, enjoying the German lager on tap, and then tucking into a schnitzel with fresh bread baked on the premises. Rooms are under a sloped ceiling and while a bit small are extremely clean. Wooden floors and pine furniture with minimal decor. Breakfast includes homemade breads and jams and a plate of German deli items. It should be mentioned that there is nothing else around this B&B whatsoever; come for a night to enjoy the food and get away from it all. Good value.

Once in a while you stumble on a place that calls you back, time and again. Such a place is the Crowsnest Vineyards in Cawston, BC, Canada. Cawston is close to Penticton, in BC, but much quieter, much more quaint, and far more relaxing!

If you were in Germany, this venue would carry the name "Landgasthof Crowsnest Vineyards" which means "country Inn". Which is exactly what it is; a proper German Country Inn, in British Columbia. The wine making part of British Columbia.

Upon driving in, you will find a German country inn with acres of grapes all around it, and Bitburger Beer signage, next to a menu board posted proudly by the covered double door entry. Inside is a bakery, a charming restaurant done in a warm German style, a cozy bar, and several outside terraces with German umbrellas shading tables next to their grapes.

Upstairs are a number of comfortable rooms, also done up in european style with private bath and snuggly bedding. Skylights and windows look out on the grape covered All the comforts of home, plus great food and drink, just a few steps below.

Your hosts are a German family that knows how to accommodate guest with fabulous food, drink, in a relaxed country style. With the German accents and foods, you will think you crossed the world and are back in Black Forest.

I have been enjoying the Crowsnest for several years. I plan at least one weekend a year, usually with a group of 5 or 6 friends on motorcycles. Sasha and his family are motorcycle riders, there is usually a fine Ducati sitting outside. We have spent many an evening drinking his fine wines and beers, and usually followed with a great desert and a glass of schnapps.

When 6 of us rode in on our bikes last fall, wet from a downpour, Ann, the wine maker, greeted us in the front terrace with an armload of fresh towels. How wonderful is that!

If in British Columbia or somewhere in "the west" plug Cawston, BC into your GPS and go spend a night at the Crowsnest Vineyard. You will not regret it.

Room Tip: Tell Sascha you love motorcycles.
