We took some time to find it -though the address is given as Via M Cilenti it's at the far end of the Corso Re Umberto, sharp left then right, behind the Castello. When we did it was well worth the effort. Family run, they've only been there since December and are working hard to provide an excellent ambiance and fine cooking.
We ordered one antipasto - there was enough for three, with fine variety, home prepared by Antonio - he's the father, and head waiter, and one of his sons is the chef. The rest of the family are also involved.
The antipasto included marvellous sundried tomatoes, fagiolini, an immense cheese plate, meats and delectable onion pastries The asparagus risotto was perfect -just the right amount of bite. And both my lamb and my wife's beef on the bone were tender and perfectly cooked. We also did justice to a good bottle of Primitivo di Salento We just couldn't manage a sweet but added a cognac and coffee.
When the bill came, i just couldn't believe it was so low. Throughout Antonio kept up solicitous and impeccable service.
Molto grazie a la famiglia Cilfone per una cena indimenticabile
