“Fully reliable. Never get disappointed”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

I have been visiting El Pastor for 22 years. First time, it was a "business lunch" with colleagues underway heading for Northern country. Soon after I took my family there and we have been doing this since though our hometown is 150 km away from Aranda. Great starters ( top quality food based on local products) and the highly recommended "roast lamb". Lamb is cooked in the traditional oven, at guests' sight. Servings are generous and prices are acceptable. Visiting El Pastor is always a trustful option.

“We would return for the sheer, rustic joy of perfectly prepared roasted lamb.”
Reviewed March 1, 2012

Aranda de Duero – Dinner at Meson El Pastor on Plaza Vigencilla – This place just looked and smelled great, as it was crowded, noisy, and fronted by a very large and impressive wood burning brick oven (asador) from whose mouth beckoned the sight and smoky aroma of the regional specialty, “lechazo asado” (roast baby lamb, fed only on milk), a dish I had been craving since we began to plan the trip. Nothing formal here, large wooden tables, lots of locals as well as tourists, bottles of wine (Aranda is, after all, the heart of Ribera de Duero) and, if I recall correctly, no English and no menu. We started with a thick and delicious bready soup with lots of garlic. Then very simple, but quite tasty green salads, and then, sigh, a huge platter-bowl of wonderful, apparently very slowly roasted baby lamb, seasoned as simply as everything else that night, with nothing more than garlic, salt, and pepper, and drizzled with olive oil. Let’s just say my introduction to lechazo was heavenly. There was a ton of roast lamb there, and we devoured it all. Bottles of ‘06 Prado Rey and ‘08 Cillar de Silos were emptied. We would return for the sheer, rustic joy of perfectly prepared roasted lamb.

“Very good roast lamb, indispensable while visiting Aranda de Duero”
Reviewed October 9, 2010

This restaurant has a very good roast lamb, which is called "lechazo" in Castilla y León.
It is in the city center, near all other "asadores" (roasters) and the prices are very good.
Quantities are enough and it is very recommended for travellers or family meetings.

“For the best roast lamb in Spain”
Reviewed December 31, 2009

I have been coming to this restaurant for the last 20 years. I was there again in December 2009 and as usual it did not dissapoint. Dont expect a fancy menu, you just get the speciality roast lamb cooked in the clay oven together with a salad. There is a choice of starters and desserts but the lamb is why clients come all the way from Madrid just for lunch. Served in a rustic setting, the restaurant is welcoming and cosy. Make sure you book at busy times of the year. Reasonable prices.
