“very well designed”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

The site was well signposted and easy to find though not an overcrowded tourist trap. It is worth reading all the info in the exhibits before going on to see the monument. I love the fact that you can only see the monument properly from one position, it cleverly portrays the fact that Mandela was found here whilst in hiding in the countryside

“Great piece of art!”
Reviewed April 23, 2014 via mobile

We visited the capture site of Nelson Mandela over Easter weekend. Well worth a visit and a great piece of art! It is great to see the art close by and also when the magic unfolds at a perfect spot!

The site is very clean and very well organized! We took our young children along and they managed the walk easily to the sculpture!

Please stop at the capture site if possible. This is truly a site Well worth a visit!

“Creative sculpture commemorating an unforgettable man”
Reviewed April 23, 2014 via mobile

Found off the R103 just out of Howick this sculpture looks like nothing from the road, with the face of Mandela only becoming visible at a particular vantage point on the path leading from the museum to the sculpture. Its setting against the hills and opposite the earlier nondescript brick and cement roadside memorial adds to the striking nature of the sculpture.
Entry is free. The dirt drive into the museum is narrow but two cars can pass. Parking is very limited. The museum itself gives a detailed picture of Mandela's life. The walk down to the sculpture viewing station has a gentle slope but is not a long one. There are seats at a couple of points.
Well worth a visit. We had been to the capture site before but the addition of this sculpture makes what was previously ordinary quite special.

“Can't be missed”
Reviewed April 22, 2014 via mobile

If this is breathtaking in the pictures, there are no words to describe what it looks like in person! The long walk to get there is a bit hectic in the heat but is absolutely worth it! Not to be missed

“Image in rods”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

A wonderful walk to the rods and then see the image of Madiba. Truly a remarkable sight. The exhibition requires a little more work, but well worth the stop when in the Midlands
