A wonderful walk to the rods and then see the image of Madiba. Truly a remarkable sight. The exhibition requires a little more work, but well worth the stop when in the Midlands

Situated in the beautiful Natal Midlands the Nelson Mandela capture site is well worth the visit. The wrought iron sculpture is an incredible piece of work and you have to walk the path to a certain point to fully see the great man's image. Amazing. People still leave flowers for him when they pass......

This is a wonderful place. A brilliantly constructed sculpture - if you stand in the right place Mandela's face appears. The construction is fascinating but unfortunately there is no information about the sculptor and how he decided to make this piece. We were there in the middle of the week and there were very few other people around. There is also a walk through information chart/pictures etc of Mandela's life which is interesting. The shop though is a disappointment. There were some ANC T shirts but not a single postcard of the monument. As visitors to South Africa from the UK, it would have been lovely to have been able to buy postcards and send them to our friends across the world. As others have said it could become a major attraction with some extra publicity and staff training. Mandela was not only of absolute importance to South Africa but to many peoples round the world.

I was really impressed with the Nelson Mandela Capture Site monument. I had visited the old monument (which was really just a block on concrete that was a bit run down) and was happy to see such an amazing, new monument erected here. A truly unique and moving experience.

Walking down the pathway to these rods, one has no idea what to expect. But as one gets closer, the rods start forming the image of Madiba - what an awesome sight!! So well worth the effort.
