On a cold and rainy Cape Town night this charming restaurant in an old-world setting with its huge, warm fireplace created just the right atmosphere for celebrating my birthday with grown-up kids and spouses. The food was prepared excellently, the Pakistani waiter was very friendly and professional - and the most amazing was the short space of time between ordering and receiving the food of different dishes for six people.

As one in the party required wheelchair access we phoned ahead and were assured that it was. However, this was not at all correct and it was very inconvenient. The service was very slow and the food left much to be desired. The owner was very unsympathetic to our concerns

Went with a group of 12 people on Friday night to try out the Eisbeins, was a bit hesitant as we went there 2 weeks ago and the eisbeins was tough & undercooked. After giving our order, the waiter came back after 30min to say they dont have eisbeins, but we can have pork belly instead. 2 hours later the food arrived. 2 out 12 people were satisfied with the food, the rest ordered steak, which was as thin as a minute steak and tasted of vinegar. The sauces that came with it was very watery and tasteless, we send back the veal & pork belly because it was SO salty it was impossible to eat, the cream on the cuppachino was sour. The owners was never-minded, Overall a horrible experience and will most defiantly never go there again.

We have had the worse experience ever at this restaurant over the weekend. Waited an hour for drinks, but an astonishing 2 hours for our food!! Firstly the Eisbein were not available. The Sirloin steak tasted like Vinegar and looked like minute steak. The sauce was so watery, it could not be used. The Pork Belly was way to salty to stomach and the Veal Picotta tasted like Cup a Soup. Only 2 out of the 12 of us finished our food. The restaurant itself is so filthy. When we complained to the owner, he just had the arrogant attitude that he's made his money, he does not care. I will definitely never go back there and will warn everyone I know about this disgusting place!

Booked a table for nine in the evening, was impressed when we walked in with the live entertainment and started to relax. The service in the beginning was not good, but, it did get better towards the end and the waiter started communicating. What was sad was that a few things on the menu were not available, not even mash patatoes? How difficult can it be? The food was good, felt like home cooking and with the live music and humming to the tunes, it felt like sitting at home, but being served. In spite of the negatives, I will try Villa Maria again and perhaps have a lunch, sitting on the patio and enjoying the view was well.
